Hogwarts Legacy - Should You Burn Ferdinand’s Frame?

Players can choose to burn Ferdinand's frame to finish the Portrait in a Pickle side quest quicker in Hogwarts Legacy. Read on to know if you should burn Ferdinand's frame as well as the other choices you can make.

Hogwarts Legacy - Burn the Frame to Finish the Quest

As this quest doesn't contribute to the main story, you are free to choose from the dialogue choices on what you wish to do with Ferdinand's frame.

The quickest choice would be to burn Ferdinand's frame. You can do this by selecting “Returning you to the Three Broomsticks isn't my only option” then choose “I could burn you” from the next set of dialogue choices.

After selecting this, cast any fire-based spell such as Incendio or Confringo on the portrait. Players that choose to burn Ferdinand's portrait will still receive the Oddities Shelf conjuration.

Don’t Burn the Frame to Continue the Quest

Choice Result
Let's get out of here. ➔ You bring Ferdinand to Hogsmeade to complete the quest.
Returning you to the Three Broomsticks isn't my only option. I could take you to the Hog's Head instead. You bring Ferdinand to Hogsmeade to complete the quest.
I could burn you. You burn Ferdinand and complete the quest.
Nevermind. You bring Ferdinand to Hogsmeade to complete the quest.

Should you opt not to burn the portrait, you can choose any of the dialogue options to complete the quest. Choosing any of the options above will reward you with the Oddities Shelf conjuration no matter what, so feel free to select any.

How to Unlock Portrait in a Pickle

Finish In the Shadow of the Mountain and Alohomora 2

This choice takes place during the Portrait in a Pickle side quest which only becomes available after completing the main quest, In the Shadow of the Mountain.

Additionally, you will need to have Alohamora 2 as Ferdinand's portrait will be in a room requiring a Level 2 lock.
