Obtain the Key of Admittance

To open the locked metal door near the Headmaster's Office, you need to obtain the Key of Admittance found in the study room above the office. You need to unlock Alohomora III to reach this room.

How to Get Key of Admittance
1	Fly to the highest point in Hogwarts. You can use your broom to reach a balcony found at the highest tower in Hogwarts. You can use this method if you do not have access to the Headmaster's Office, which will be available after The Polyjuice Plot main quest. ▶︎ How to Reach the Highest Point in Hogwarts
1a	Alternatively, head to the Headmaster's Office. If you already have access to the Headmaster's Office and feel like taking the normal method to get the key, you can fast travel to the Trophy Room Floo Flame and follow the path leading to the upper levels of the tower. Once inside the office, use Alohomora II to unlock the door at the left side of the room and go up.
2	Use Alohomora III to open the locked door.
3	Climb up the staircase and get the Key of Admittance on the table.
3a	Fast travel to Trophy Room Floo Flame if you flew to reach the room. If you flew with your broom to reach the study room before you even had access to the Headmaster's Office, you need to fast travel to the Trophy Room as you will have no way to get out of the office as intended.
3b	Exit the office if you already had access to the room. If you went to the office and the study room in the intended way, you can simply exit the same way you came.

Open Locked Door Below with Key

Once you obtain the Key of Admittance, you can proceed to open the locked door. How you'll reach the room will depend on how you were able to access the study room.

If you flew to the balcony to reach the study room without having access to the Headmaster's Office in the first place, fast travel to the Trophy Room Floo Flame. Follow the path leading to the upper levels of the tower. Once you come across a corridor with statues, head right to locate the locked door.

If you already had access to the Headmaster's Office and grabbed the key the regular way, go down from the study room and exit the Headmaster's Office. Head down the spiral staircase and walk towards the end of the corridor with statues to find the locked door.

Once you locate the door, use the Key of Admittance to open it. You will then discover a Hogwarts Secret!

Headmaster's Office Secret Room Rewards

After opening the locked door near the Headmaster's Office, you can obtain loot from chests found inside the room containing the Hogwarts Secret, much like the other Hogwarts Secrets hidden rooms.
