Cyberpunk 2077 - New Game Plus

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty still has no true New Game Plus (NG+) mode even after the release of Update 2.0 and the DLC. Read on to find out if the game has a New Game Plus mode, and what happens after you finish both the game and the Phantom Liberty DLC.

Unfortunately, there is still no New Game Plus (NG+) mode in Cyberpunk 2077. Outside of mods, no official NG+ mode has been added despite the release of Patch 2.0 and the paid Phantom Liberty DLC.

This game's equivalent to a New Game Plus feature is you getting taken back to before the point of no return, during the Nocturne OP55N1 quest. You retain all the rewards for the final mission and any Iconic weapons you find during the assault on Arasaka Tower.

However, this does not reset previous quests. If you finished all NCPD scanner hustles, Fixer Gigs, and Side Quests prior to Nocturne OP55N1, then there won't be anything else to do unless you get the Phantom Liberty DLC.

Phantom Liberty Only Adds Another Ending Option

The Phantom Liberty DLC only adds another ending option to the game called The Tower. There was no NG+ mode that released with the paid DLC.

As of September 2023 upon the release of Patch 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, there has been no news from CD Projekt Red that the NG+ feature is coming or if it is in development at all.

But at the same time, there also hasn't been any mention from the game developers that they won't be doing it, so it's not impossible that it will still be coming in the future.

CDPR Says New Game Plus is an Incredibly Complex Feature


The last mention of a true New Game Plus mode was back in 2022 when Lead Level Designer Miles Tost tweeted that it was an incredibly complex feature to make, mentioning factors such as having to rebalance the entire game, and having to do tons of testing for skill checks in gameplay and dialogues.

But he also added that the game studio is looking into the possibility of adding the feature sometime in the future, with the caveat that the studio was making "no promises."
