The Devil Ending Explanation

Either a Good or Bad Ending

Cyberpunk 2077 Mikoshi

What primarily decides if The Devil Ending is good or bad is the player's principle and conscience.

In the game name itself, Cyberpunk 2077, the genre is stated.

The Cyberpunk genre is more than the cyber aesthetics on a person and a world. It's a genre that shows a future of the ultra-capitalist mindset, where people are treated like commodities and is helpless under the dystopia.

The helplessness V and his friends have suffered can lead to The Devil Ending, where V chooses to live, throwing his principles away.

That is why while talking to Johnny inside Mikoshi, he is disappointed and states that he is the V who chose to mourn Jackie, and the V who has a heavy conscience.

To conclude, the ending, or V's choice is not necessarily bad. It's the world of Cyberpunk 2077 that is.

Consequences

Someone Lives Again

While at Arasaka Clinic you may have noticed the news on the TV inside your room.

Saburo Arasaka lives once again through Soul Killer, and in the body of his own son, Yorinobu.

It is not stated if Saburo took Yorinobu's body by force, but Saburo states that it was consensual.

And in the deceitful world of Cyberpunk 2077, we can never know the truth of it.

Reaction From V's Friends

During the roll credits, there are calls from V's friends and depending on which ending path the player chose their reactions vary.

For The Devil Ending, most of V's friends merely tell them to take care of themselves, and to watch out for the new people they surround themselves with (most likely the Arasakas).
