As part of Master Duel's first anniversary, a new banlist update is on the way for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, taking effect on February 14th, 2023. Check here for all the details on what cards are being forbidden, limited, semi-limited and unlimited!

February 14 Banlist Update

The new Banlist goes into effect on February 14th, 2023.

Konami has compiled the trends and results of Decks used in Ranked Duels, and will limit cards and Decks with outstandingly high usage and win rates in line with their impact on the metagame.

The changes made to the list reflect Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel's aim of preventing Decks from being too difficult to counter, and ensuring the game's tactical element is not compromised by overly short and one-sided Duels.

Ancient Fairy Dragon Errata

Ancient Fairy Dragon

With Ancient Fairy Dragon being removed from the banlist, its card text is also being given an errata, changing the conditions of its effect!

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. Once per turn: You can destroy as many Field Spells on the field as possible, and if you do, gain 1000 LP, then you can add 1 Field Spell from your Deck to your hand.
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
During your Main Phase: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. During the Main Phase: You can destroy as many cards in the Field Zones as possible (min. 1), and if you do, gain 1000 LP, then you can add 1 Field Spell with a different name than the destroyed card(s), from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Ancient Fairy Dragon" once per turn.

Dismantling Bonuses

With cards that were previously banned being made Limited, and one of the cards have yet to be released upon the announcement of the update, there will be no dismantling bonus available after the banlist changes have taken effect.
