Link Regulation Salamangreat Deck Guide: How to Play

Work in Progress - Information Available Soon!

Playstyle and Win Condition

The original Salamangreat Deck was known for using its monsters to boost its Link Monster summoning capacity, while maintaining a control over the field through aggressive plays. Its playstyle can be best described as pace-setting, slowly building up advantages. Compared to faster Decks, Salamangreats are slow, but when played properly it can turn the Duel to its favor.

On a normal Salamangreat Deck, it makes use of other types of Extra Deck Monsters; typically Xyz Monsters due to Salamangreat Miragestallio, or Fusion Monsters thanks to Salamangreat Violet Chimera. Thanks to the Link Regulation's restrictions, however, the Deck is restricted to only running Link Monsters in the Extra Deck.

Salamangreat Foxy Salamangreat Gazelle Salamangreat Spinny Salamangreat Jack Jaguar

The common monsters for Salamangreat Decks remain the same.

The best starter is Salamangreat Gazelle for its ability to send resources to the GY whenever Normal or Special Summoned, and can be Special Summoned if a fellow Salamangreat gets sent to the GY. Salamangreat Spinny can be discarded to give a Salamangreat monster a small ATK boost, and can be Special Summoned from the GY while other Salamangreat monsters are present.

Salamangreat Jack Jaguar can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard to a Monster Zone pointed at by a Salamangreat Link Monster's Link Markers, and Salamangreat Foxy can excavate the Deck to retrieve more Salamangreat cards to the hand.

Flame Bufferlo Cynet Mining Salamangreat Circle Salamangreat Sanctuary

Resource management is key in making sure Salamangreats maintain their advantage on the field. Flame Bufferlo provides an additional draw by discarding a monster once this card leaves the field. Cynet Mining and Salamangreat Circle searches out Salamangreat monsters from the Deck. Salamangreat Sanctuary enables the reincarnation Link Summoning the archetype is known for by being able to use a copy of the Link Monster with the same name as its only material.

Decode Talker Heatsoul Salamangreat Heatleo Accesscode Talker Borrelend Dragon

Salamangreat Heatleo gets the effect of affecting the ATK of an opponent's monster once it uses Salamangreat Sanctuary's effect to its own advantage. Decode Talker Heatsoul provides drawing power and can get even stronger if there are monsters on Monster Zones its Link Markers are pointing to. Accesscode Talker and Borrelend Dragon are late-game options that have powerful effects that are meant to end the game when all other options have been exausted.

Boss Monsters

Salamangreat Heatleo
Salamangreat Heatleo The ace monster of the Salamangreat archetype, Salamangreat Heatleo can take advantage of monsters in your Graveyard. When Link Summoned using a copy of itself, it can target a monster to have the original ATK as one of the monsters sitting in your GY; a powerful effect if Salamangreat Balelynx or Salamangreat Almiraj is in there to use against your opponent.
Decode Talker Heatsoul
Decode Talker Heatsoul A newer addition to consider for Salamangreat decks, Decode Talker Heatsoul enjoys boosts to its ATK if there are monsters on Monster Zones its Link Markers are pointing to. It has a once-per-turn Quick Effect to draw a card, meaning it can be used during the opponent's turn as well. When low in LP, it can also Special Summon a Link-3 or lower Cyberse monster from the GY.
Accesscode Talker
Accesscode Talker Commonly seen among Link Monster-heavy Decks, Accesscode Talker also enjoys its spot in the Extra Deck as a late-game option. Apart from its effect to boost its ATK based on the Link Rating of a Link Monster that was used as material, it also has the ability to destroy cards on the field by banishing Link Monsters from the GY with different attributes.
Borrelend Dragon
Borrelend Dragon Even if Borrelend Dragon cannot make use of its second effect of effect negation and Special Summoning, it is still a menace on the fiield once Link Summoned. It cannot be destroyed by card effects or by battle, and neither player can target this card for card effects. 3500 ATK makes it a very dangerous beatstick as well.

Link Regulation Salamangreat Counters: How to Beat

Best Cards to Tech Against Link Regulation Salamangreat

Sales Ban
Sales Ban This is more of a counter for hand traps and boss monsters that do not negate Spell Cards, but Sales Ban serves as a targeted negate of sorts, prohibiting the opponent from using the effects of the declared card with the same original name. Be careful when using this card for Hand Traps however, as it also disables you from using the same card for the rest of the Duel.
Anti-Spell Fragrance
Anti-Spell Fragrance For a Deck that needs its monsters to be efficient, its Spell Cards are surprisingly potent and consistent to give the Salamangreats the consistency it needs . Anti-Spell Fragrance delays the deck's ability to garner advantage and search out necessary cards.
Infinite Impermanence
Infinite Impermanence If you use a Salamangreat Deck and go first in the Duel, Infinite Impermanence can immediately stop any combos from happening to get key monsters out on the field. This also forces the player to be careful where activated cards are placed on the field, as landing on the column as this Trap Card immediately negates its effects.
