The Phantom Liberty DLC raises the max level to 60, giving you 10 more attribute points to spend.

Leveling Guide: How to Level Up Fast

Max Level for Attributes

A single Attribute can be leveled up to a maximum of 20. With only 71 attribute points available on a save file (81 with Phantom Liberty), it is impossible to fully max out all five Attributes on a single character.

It's best to decide what Build you want to go for in advance, to avoid getting locked out of key Perks due to an insufficient Attribute level.

List of Attributes

There are five Attributes available in-game by default. Each of these attributes strengthen a certain aspect of your character. In the Phantom Liberty DLC, a new attribute was added called the Relic attribute.

Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty - Relic Skill Tree
The Relic attribute is an attribute only available to those with the Phantom Liberty DLC. It is a bit different than the others; while it is in the Attribute screen, it can't be leveled up and thus won't give any bonuses and weapon proficiencies.

It does have a Perks tree, and most of these perks are associated with the other attributes. Note that instead of using Perk Points to level these up, you'll need Relic Points, which you can get by finding Data Terminals in Dogtown.

Can You Reset Attributes?

Attribute Points Can be Reset Once Per Playthrough

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty - Reset Attributes button

Update 2.0 allows players to reset their attributes at least once per playthrough. To reset your attributes, go to the Character Tab and hit the Reset Attributes button at the bottom left of the screen.

Remember that you can only do this once, so make sure you have your next build planned (or make a separate save first) before refunding your points!

Can You Reset Attributes and Respec Perks?

How to Get Attribute Points

Start of the Game

The player will start the game with 3 Attribute points automatically placed in each of the five Attributes. They also have control over how 7 additional Attribute Points are allocated at the start of the game, for a total of 22 starting Attribute Points.

This placement will affect the playstyles available to your character, and can only be changed once per playthrough, so choose wisely!

Best Starting Attributes

Gain 1 Attribute Point Every Level

For every time the player levels up, they will gain a new Attribute Point which they can place in any Attribute of their choice. There are no other known ways to respec or gain Attribute Points after the start of the game, so treat each of these with care.

What are Attributes?

Attributes are Your Main Stats

Attributes are the primary stats of your character. They will determine the values of your raw stats, have their respective Perks trees that give bonuses to weapons and other combat aspects, and are also each connected to a skill.

This does not apply to the Relic attribute, which don't give stats or bonuses and only has a Perks tree.

Each Attribute Has Perks and Skills Associated with Them

Perks are abilities that will increase your combat efficiency with weapons, survivability, and various abilities outside of combat such as hacking. They are part of Perk trees which are attached to one of the Attributes.

Skills are part of a different system, where you have to do actions associated with their respective attributes to level up those skills. You get various bonuses as you level up these skills.
