The Update 2.0 introduced several changes to the police system in Cyberpunk 2077. The first noticeable change is the spawn rates of the police. Policemen will now regularly spawn along with pedestrian NPCs, allowing them to respond to reports quick and even catch you immediately if you're not being careful.
In addition, the Heat System of the game has also been revamped. The game now uses a five star system that raises depending on how much trouble you're causing. Of course, for each star level you acquire, the police force will become much harder if you fail to hide from them.
Revamped Police System and Wanted Levels
Attaining 5 Stars in the reworked Heat system will now summon a mini boss in the form of a deadly squad of MaxTac. These powerful units can easily take you down if you're unprepared, so make sure you know what you're doing before deciding to wreak havoc in Night City.
Cyberpsychos will not be tolerated in Night City. If you start going on a rampage, prepare to be eliminated with extreme prejudice once this special NPCD force takes the field.
MaxTac deploys a squad containing a heavy gunner, marksman, and even a close combat specialist, to deal with your chromed V. Make sure to be fully prepared when you encounter these elite forces, as they can prove to be quite challenging once deployed.
When using silenced weapons, enemies can investigate the bullet impact and trace the location of the source. This change encourages players to adopt a more strategic approach when discreetly eliminating enemies with stealth mechanics.
Stealth Overhaul: All Known Changes
Enemies equipped with Sandevistan Cyberware can activate their own first to counter a player who uses their own. This makes facing Sandevistan enemies more challenging in combat and compels players to attempt different ways to eliminate them.
When facing groups of enemies, other groups of NPCs may unite in combat against you. With this change, facing large groups of enemies is now more challenging, so exercise caution!
Enemies can now easily detect you when walking or sprinting near them. This adds to the challenge of navigating the map and emphasizes the importance of hiding for safety when moving away from enemies.
With the new update, enemies can now also show up in cars as random encounters. If you are driving while on a certain quest or on a police run, be prepared to see new enemies spawn in cars and shoot you while at it. However, you can now also fight back and fire at enemies while driving with the new vehicle combat update.
Enemy Netrunners are now much more difficult to face during combat with the new update. With the 2.0 update, netrunners can hack you even without line-of-sight. As long as their allies or cameras can detect you, netrunners will always attempt to hack you if you're not careful.
