Bounty Hunting allows you to earn a few extra eddies and street cred on the side in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Read on to learn more about bounty rewards, where to find bounties, as well as how to get the biggest bounties in the game.
Bounty Hunting is a side activity in the game where you take out targets with bounties on their heads. Unlike regular gigs or side jobs, the bounty hunting mechanic exists so that you can still get eddies, Street Cred, and EXP whenever you kill the many gang members loitering the streets of Night City.
After receiving the Kiroshi Optics from Vik at the end of The Ripperdoc main quest, Bounty Hunting will be unlocked since he uploads the NCPD databse into your neural port.
After The Ripperdoc quest, you will be able to use your scanner to look for people with bounties. You can also find NPCs with bounties randomly in the map without the need to use your scanner. These people are usually gang members and you'll be able to quickly recognize them as they appear on your map.
If you managed to find a wanted target, the scanner will display details about their bounty including their reward and threat level.
You have to kill the target in order to claim your bounty reward. Incapacitating them without killing them will not reward you with Eddies. With that said, always prepare for a fight when hunting one.
Aside from eddies and experience, you will also gain Street Cred as part of your rewards.
NPCs with bounties will consistently have a yellow marker above them. You can also check the map upon entering a new location to see all the enemies with bounties in that specific area. These enemies will have a sight cone and will become hostile once detected.
You can randomly encounter crimes in progress while driving around Night City. Once you are near one, a light blue star icon will appear on your minimap. These events are similar with Assaults in Progress, except there are no key items to loot.
Also, with the recent Combat AI overhaul in the 2.0 update, enemies can now spawn inside vehicles. These gang members will also carry bounties, so be sure to take them out too!
One of the quickest ways to look for bounties is to take on NCPD Scanner Hustles. You can find these types of jobs on the map and are relatively easy to complete.
Most gigs involve taking out criminals with bounties. This will yield you more rewards as the targets are usually high-profile criminals. Be sure to complete these as well to get more money, experience, and street cred!
