The next edition of Tryout Duels in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has been announced for June 16, 2025, and this time it is another Time Travel format. In this version, players will be adapting to a format from the TCG in 2008! See the difference in formats between present day Yu-Gi-Oh! and the format of the past here!

Foir this run of the Tryout Duels, the game will be adopting a specific format from the OCG from 2008, which so happens to be the introduction of the Synchro Monsters into the card game.

Tryout Duel: Time Travel 2008 Format Changes
Specific Date of Time Travel Format
This is much like the previous Time Travel formats of the Tryout Duels, where players were able to experience a format that was from the past, like a previous version adopting rules from 2004, 2010 and 2014.

This time, players will be adopting a format where only cards that were released up to December 21, in 2008 are legal for this event! This year happens to be specifically known for being the introduction of the Synchro mechanic to Yu-Gi-Oh!
Most Likely TeleDAD Format

Some fans would refer to this format in 2008 as the TeleDAD format, due to the prominence of the Psychic-type monsters that were making their debut. Dark Armed Dragon was also at its peak around this time as well.
Different Banlist from Master Duel
Much like the previous Time Travel Formats, as the cards allowed are those released on and before a specific date, that means every single card released after that date will be marked as Forbidden.
It also means that the Forbidden & Limited Card List will most likely mirror the meta that was active on that date's meta.

Loaner Decks Available for This Event
As with previous Time Travel Tryout Duels, Loaner Decks should be available for players who want to try out the 2008 format!
Each Deck has their own specific strategy, testing out some of the most prominent archetypes and playstyles of that era of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Free Card Pack from Most Recent Selection Pack
Much like previous versions of Tryout Events, the main prize given out during this event is a free Card Pack featuring the most recently released Selection Pack during their run.
In this case, it's most likely that players will receive a free Card Pack from The Perpetual Maze Selection Pack.
