Quest Objectives

1. Talk to Briana

1. Talk to Briana

Head to the starting point and wait for Briana at the bench. After the time skip, Briana will ask you to follow her upstairs where she will give you the detes of the gig.

You're tasked to bring the dog tag of Leon Rinder—Hansen's former gunman—who is also responsible for the death of Martha's son, and seven other people.

2. Crack the Shard

Now for the coordinates of your target, you'll need to decrypt the shard Briana gave you. To find it among the sea of shards you probably have, open the menu then choose Journal > Shards > Encrypted > Archived Conversation: Jason Foreman and Slava Makarov.

You can also check the gig's details on your Journal and click on the datashard below the objective to skip the search.

Complete the Breach Protocol puzzle to view the encrypted conversation and a certain motel in Pacifica.

Investigate the Area (Optional)

If you want to know more about the incident, you can pull up your scanner and investigate the objects highlighted in yellow. Johnny will appear to discuss about each of them with you, which should give you more knowledge on Rinder.

3. Go to the Old Motel

Use a dataterm to fast travel to West Wind Apartments. It would take a while to reach it with a vehicle since you'll also have to pass through Dogtown's gate.

4. Find Rinder

Enter the building and turn it upside down until you find Rinder. There's no reason to be stealthy here, but you can still be if that's your preferred playstyle.

Rinder is on the top floor, inside a room at the corner. Try to open the door and a Scav boss will jump at you.

Yasha Ivanov can use toxic grenades that can force you out of cover and be open to his assault rifle. He also has Optic Camo installed that he will use when retreating.

5. Get to Rinder

After defeating Yasha, go back to the room where you encountered him and confront Rinder.

You can either kill him or let him live and just take the dog tag with you. Either choice will yield the same reward from Mr. Hands, but if you spare Rinder, he will give you the key to his stash where you can get an Iconic weapon.

6. Deliver the Dog Tag to Briana

Go back to Dogtown and give Briana the dog tag to complete the quest.

Should You Kill Rinder?

If you care more about rewards than doing what your client specifically asked, we recommend sparing Rinder and just taking his dog tag for Briana. This will not affect the outcome of the quest and your pay from Mr. Hands.

Rinder will give you the key to his stash for letting him live, where you can find items including an Iconic double-barrel shotgun called Dezerter.
