Unlike Breath of the Wild, Great Fairy Fountains in Tears of the Kingdom must be unlocked in a set order, by completing a series of side quests. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in total, and all four must be unlocked to upgrade any armor piece to its full potential.

The Great Fairies will not come out of their fountains even if you find them prior to receiving their respective Side Adventures, unlike in Breath of the Wild. You need to complete these quests in order to avail their armor-upgrading services.
