Be sure to select the right type of map and toggle between the Sky, Surface, and Depths on the lower left corner for the boss icon to appear.

Shoot the Obsidian Frox's eye with arrows to stun it. It will collapse onto the ground, making you free to hit its weak spots.
Obsidian Frox will have a few black rocks on its back. Hit these with melee attacks while he's stunned on the ground to deal massive damage. Destroying all the rocks on its back will defeat this miniboss.
If the area you're in is currently dark, like the East Akkala Plains Chasm, throw down a Giant Brightbloom Seed closeby. It will light up the area, allowing you to see your surroundings clearly.
