Additionally, you need to upgrade all the armor set pieces set to 2-Star to get the extra effects. Extra effects are different from set bonus and you can only get these effects through Great Fairies upgrade.

You can get the complete Hylian Set as soon as you reach the Lookout Landing. This set can provide a total of 9 defense boost, making it a good set to have during your early explorations.

It is also possible to get the Champion's Leathers from the Hyrule Castle. As soon as you unlocked the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, glide all the way to the castle and look for the Throne Room to get it. You will need a lot of stamina to get there, so be sure to prepare stamina-boosting dishes and elixirs first before going there.
