Master Mode is a game mode not available on launch for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Read on for more information about this challenging game mode and if it will release as DLC for Tears of the Kingdom.
No option for Master Mode as of June 2023.
Tears of the Kingdom does not offer Master Mode upon the initial launch of the game. The mode is not available when you start the game nor is it an unlockable after beating the story.
Master Mode in Tears of the Kingdom may be added as paid downloadable content in the future, like how it was added in the previous game, Breath of the Wild.
The separate game mode can be possibly bundled with story-oriented DLC for Tears or the Kingdom or may be offered as standalone DLC.

Master Mode is an additional game mode in Breath of the Wild which was addeed with the prequel's Master Trials DLC Pack. This is the game's Hard Mode and makes traversing even the early parts of Hyrule extremely challenging.

In Master Mode, all enemies are upgraded to the next level, an example being Red Bokoblins replacing Blue Bokoblins even in the earliest parts of the game. Apart from that, they also regenerate health a few seconds after attacking them or if Link runs away from the fight.
Enemies are also more intelligent and offer a real challenge in combat as they can use better strategies while fighting.

After purchasing the Master Trials DLC Pack, an option to start a new save file in Master Mode became available in Breath of the Wild's main menu.
This meant that progression between the regular game mode and Master Mode is separate and a previous save does not need to be overwritten to start Master Mode.
