How to Prepare Frozen Dishes
Expose Ingredients to Cold Temperature
Cook Frozen Recipes by exposing ingredients to cold temperatures. Do this by going to an icy region and dropping ingredients on the ground until it freezes.
You can also use an ice weapon. All Frozen Recipes provide a short duration of Heat Resistance.

The sneaky river snail will not freeze in a cold environment. You must freeze it with a freezing-weapon. I suspect that the developers didn't bother to make a dead version of the river snail, as it does not move when it is alive. I also think that creatures must first be dead to freeze by the environment. Thus, you must kill and freeze it at the same time.
