Get Stealth Up

Tears of the Kingdom TOTK - Get Stealth Up

Getting the Stealth Up effect will allow you to move quieter and therefore increase your chances of landing a sneakstrike and not getting noticed by enemies.

Equip armor pieces from the Stealth Set, Yiga Set, or Evil Spirit Set, or cook dishes with Silent Shrooms before engaging your target to ensure that you can approach them safely.

Armor with Stealth Up

The following armor pieces will give you Stealth Up if you equip them.

Use Puffshrooms

Puffshrooms create a large cloud of smoke, like a smoke bomb, once they come in contact with an enemy or on the ground, shrouding Link among enemies while confusing them.

While the smoke is present, enemies will not be able to locate Link. Use this moment to get behind them and perform a sneakstrike.

You can find Puffshrooms below Hyrule in the Depths.

Sneak During the Rain

Tears of the Kingdom TOTK - Sneak During Rain

Rain hides the noise of your footsteps, which you can exploit to further improve your stealth while you are out in the open.

You can build a campfire and let time pass until you get rainy weather. Remember to save before engaging so you can reset if you ever get noticed!

Stealth Attack Dealing 8x Damage

Tears of the Kingdom TOTK - Sneakstrike Damage

Sneakstrike is the game's way of rewarding players who tackle the game with stealth. Successfully attacking an enemy with sneakstrike will deal eight times more damage than a regular attack.

This attack mechanic is a great way to easily defeat enemies in one hit, and works best if you have weapons which already have high damage.

Helps Avoid Big Fights

Picking off enemies one by one with sneakstrike also helps you avoid alerting all enemies in the area and fighting them at once, which is helpful if you don't have a way of dealing with crowds of enemies.

Even if you don't eliminate every enemy with stealth, you will still lower the number of enemies you have to face, which can make the difference between surviving and dying!

Does Not Defeat High-Level Enemies in One Hit

Sneakstrike attacks can eliminate most low-level enemies in one hit, but take note that this may not work against high-level ones, like Silver-tier enemies or a Captain Construct IV.

It is still worth sneaking up on them and attacking them, as sneakstrike will deal significant damage and take a large part of their health.
