How to Beat the Phantom Ganon

Perform Flurry Rush

Counterattacking Phantom Ganon with a Flurry Rush is the easiest and fastest way to defeat him. Simply dodge his first strike, then counterattack when the Flurry Rush prompt appears.

A good way to master Flurry Rush is to practice it on weaker enemies. You can try practicing with Soldier Constructs on the Sky Islands to perfect this combat technique.

How to Flurry Rush, Sneakstrike, and Deal Critical Damage

Avoid Staying Too Far

If you move too far away from Phantom Ganon, he will close in on you with a slash that may be difficult to deflect. Always stay right in front of Phantom Ganon, outside of his Gloom effect.

Avoid Phantom Ganon's Gloom

Don

Don't stay too near either, as Phantom Ganon's Gloom effect will reduce your hearts if you stay in it for too long. After you get a few hits in, immediately hop back out. If you do get affected by Gloom, you can use Sundelions in your cooking to make Sunny dishes that cure the Gloom effect and restore your hearts.

New Gloom Status Condition: How to Cure

Prepare Dark Clump and Sundelion Dishes

Eat a Warding Meat Skewer

Food made with Dark Clumps will make the fight so much easier, as their effects protect you from Phantom Ganon's Gloom. These dishes include Warding Meat Skewers, Warding Mushroom Skewer, and Warding Simmered Fruit. Dark Clumps can be obtained from Gloom Hands.

Best Armor Sets

Zelda TotK - Use Fierce Deity Armor Set

The best way to defeat him is to equip the Fierce Deity Armor Set to gain an Attack Up armor set bonus. In addition, the Fierce Deity Sword has a base attack power of 38, making it a strong weapon to use against bosses. You can obtain the sword in the Cephla Lake Cave while wearing the Fierce Deity Armor Set.

Alternatively, you can also equip the Depths Set when fighting Phantom Ganon. This will help you get extra protection from his gloom damages as it provides Gloom Resistance.

Best Shields

Zelda TotK - Bring Strong Shields
Phantom Ganon has multiple attacks that can be avoided at the right time, so it is recommended to fight with a shield equipped. The Hylian Shield, for example, is one of the best shields to use due to its high durability.

Phantom Ganon Basic Info

Phantom Ganon

A monster created from the very flesh and blood of Demon King Ganondorf that will follow his bidding without hesitation. Like the Demon King it so resembles, this huge creature is a master of many weapons. It will attack its foes relentlessly and without mercy. Facing it in battle is inadvisable—unless you want a quick ticket to the afterlife.
