Sky Islands were previewed in the March 28th gameplay trailer to contain new monsters and materials. Read on to learn the new enemies and materials that you can find on a Sky Island, and how to reach the Sky Islands.
List of Contents

The Soldier Construct is a brand new enemy shown in the March 28th gameplay trailer that looks like an ancient robot. It bears similarities to the guardians of Breath of the Wild wherein they seem to serve a protector role as they guard the Sky Islands.
They are shown to fight like the usual monster enemies that use weapons and have also been shown to use fused weapons when fighting.

An enemy that resembles a shark was shown in the final trailer. It was seen chasing Link in one of the Sky Islands.
It is possible that this enemy is the Sky Island's equivalent of the Molduga.
Final Trailer: Everything We Learned

The Zonai Charge and Soldier Construct Horn are shown to be materials that drop from a Construct after they are defeated.
It is unclear what these drops are used for, but it is possible that these can be used for creating armor or weapons, similar to the Ancient Guardian Parts.

The Stambulb appears to be a new type of plant that can be picked up from the overworld. Based on its name, the Stambulb is most likely used for restoring Stamina. However, this is yet to be confirmed.

The Korok Frond is a new material of unknown origin. It is shown that the Korok Frond can be Fused with Arrows, however the effects of fusing them are still unknown.
The Puffshroom is a new type of mushroom that can also be found on Sky Islands. When destroyed, a Puffshroom releases a cloud that can blur enemy vision.
It is shown in the gameplay showcase that the Puffshroom can also be fused with Link's shield and comes in handy for escaping enemies or dealing sneak attacks.
The Blue Bokoblin Horn is dropped by a Blue Bokoblin. It is found that it can be fused to weapons and shields.
All Confirmed Monsters and Enemies
The Zonaite is a new material found in the Sky Islands. It is speculated as a new type of ore, with ore deposits around the Sky Islands. These might be mainly used as materials that are consumed when re-creating previously saved vehicles using the Autobuild ability.
The Bomb Flower is a new type of plant found in the Sky Islands. It is shown fused to an arrow and is then fired and explodes upon contact, much like the Bomb Arrows in Breath of the Wild.
The Fire Fruit is another new type of plant in the Sky Islands. It is speculated to have the same properties as the Fire Arrow when fused to an arrow.
The Muddle Bud is a new type of plant that is also found in the Sky Islands. It is still unsure what kind of effect it gives to the weapon, shield, or arrow when fused, or what it provides when consumed.
A Golden Apple is a consumable in Tears of the Kingdom. It gives one attack power upon fusion, but recovers one and a half heart when consumed.
Zonai Charges act like tokens that are put inside the Zonai Gadget Dispensers to get Zonai materials and artifacts.
The Zonai Gadget Dispenser are gacha-like machines that grants Zonai materials such as Rockets, Fans, and Batteries that are useful when fusing together materials to create different vehicles and contraptions.
Only a maximum of five Zonai Charges can be put into the machine.
Zonai Artifacts are mechanical items and constructs found all over the Sky Islands.

Sky Islands are land formations that hover above Hyrule. These islands have different biomes that hold new enemies and materials for Link to explore and find.
Although the origin of these Sky Islands are yet to be confirmed, it is possible that these land masses started to ascend after Ganon was awakened, similar to the uprooting of Hyrule Castle in the trailers.

One of Link's four new abilities, Recall, allows you to rewind time and backtrack object movements. This skill was shown to be used to reach the Sky Islands above Hyrule. You can recall fallen boulders from the Sky Islands and use it as a lift!
Another way to reach the Sky Islands is by using Link's Ultrahand ability and connect different objects to create a vehicle that can help with sky exploration.
Not all Sky Islands float in the same levels up in the sky. There are some higher and lower than others, and some are hidden!
Diving with too much momentum will result in a Game Over. Be careful when diving off of the Sky Islands!
Great Sky Island, South Hyrule Sky Archipelago, and Central Hyrule Sky Archipelago are examples of names given to an area in the sky with floating Sky Islands.
