How to Defeat Shielded Enemies

Use Two- Handed Weapons

Zelda TotK - Two-Handed Weapon
Hitting shielded enemies with two-handed weapons can forcefully remove their shield with one hit. This is a great way to cripple defensive enemies as taking their shield away will force them to take an offensive approach instead.

Use Charged Attacks

Zelda TotK - Charged Attack
Using Charged Attacks can also catch enemies off guard. By holding the X button, you can charge up a powerful attack that can blow enemies away and inflict massive damages at the same time.

Keep in mind that Charged Attacks will deplete your stamina, so using it again will take time. To continue using it, you can drink Elixirs to replenish all your missing stamina.

Use Perfect Guard

Zelda TotK - Perfect Guard
Using Perfect Guard will stun enemy when counterattacking at the right time. To do this, press ZL to lock on the shielded enemy and wait for it to attack you, and then press A at the exact moment it attacks you to trigger this. This will stun the enemy and wouldn't take any action for a short time. Take advantage of this moment and attack it while it's vulnerable.

Use Perfect Dodge

Zelda TotK - Perfect Dodge
Using Perfect Dodge will trigger a slow motion moment, giving you a small window of time to attack. To do this, simply jump at the exact moment the enemy attacks by pressing X. After triggering the slow motion effect, strike the enemy as fast as you can.

Use Jump Attacks

Zelda TotK - Jump Attacks
You can also try doing jump attacks as most enemies will only hide behind shields, leaving the top part vulnerable. To do this, press X to jump and quickly press Y after to attack. This method doesn't change the damage output, so you might end up using it multiple times.
