Gutanbac Shrine Location and Walkthrough

Gutanbac Shrine (The Ability to Rise) in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) can be found southeast of the Temple of Time in the Great Sky Island Region. Read on to learn how to reach it, its location, puzzle solution, as well as all treasure chest locations in Gutanbac Shrine.

Gutanbac Shrine Location

Southeast of the Temple of Time, Great Sky Island

Gutanbac Shrine can be found southeast of the Temple of Time in the Great Sky Island Region, and can only be unlocked once you have received The Closed Door Main Quest.

The exact coordinates of the Shrine is at 0709, -1383, 1584.

You may need to equip the Archaic Warm Greaves to prevent yourself from freezing, given that the Gutanbac Shrine is located somewhere with low temperature.

Use the Ascend ability granted to you by Rauru so you could progress through the shrine.

Puzzle Shrine

This is a Puzzle type Shrine, so you need to solve the puzzle to reach the end and get a Light of Blessing.

Try to look around the area to find a way to move forward, and remember to use Link's Ultrahand, Ascend, or Recall abilities!

How to Reach Gutanbac Shrine

1. Head Southeast from Gutanbac Shrine

After completing Gutanbac Shrine, head southeast until you reach the base of the snowy mountain indicated in the map image above.

Once you've reached the base of the snowy mountain, grab some of the spicy peppers lying around, then cook them in the cooking pot nearby.

2. Go Up the Slope, Then Turn Right

Eat some of the cold resistance dishes you cooked, then go up the slope to enter the snowy mountain. Afterwards, turn right to reach the icy river.

3. Talk to the Maker Construct

A Maker Construct is repairing a couple of Zonai Devices by the river. Talk to it to receive an Energy Cell.

4. Cross the River

After receiving the Energy Cell, get on one of the rafts and hit the fan to get it moving. This lets you cross the icy river without getting damage.

5. Climb the Stairs

After crossing the river, look for a flight of stairs that lead up to the mountain. Go up the stairs until you reach the top of the cliffs.

6. Keep Climbing the Snowy Mountain

Keep climbing the mountain after you've reached the top of the cliff. Scale the cliff beside the waterfall up ahead to get to the next section.

7. Cross the Bridge, Then Turn Right

Once you've reached the next section, look for a bridge then cross it. Turn right and defeat the Construct in the area.

Take the spicy peppers lying around where the Construct was and cook them in the cooking pot so you'll have extra cold resistance dishes.

8. Go Up the Stairs Near the Cooking Pot

After cooking, go up the stairs near the cooking pot to reach an icy pool and a waterfall on the other side.

9. Go Behind the Waterfall and Climb the Rocky Cliff

Next, go around the icy pool to get to where the waterfall is. Climb the rocky cliff behind the waterfall to get to the summit.

10. Go to Gutanbac Shrine

Once you've reached the top, you'll notice that Gutanbac Shrine is actually just a few steps away from you now. Continue walking towards the shrine and examine it to start the trial.

1. Use Ascend to Pass Through the Ceiling

Head to the end of the path and press the L Button to activate the Ascend ability. Aim at the ceiling and press the A Button to pass through it. Press the A Button again to exit the portal.

2. Get the First Hidden Treasure Chest

Head below the smaller block on the left side and use Ascend to pass through it to reach the treasure chest.

3. Use Ascend on the Taller Block

Drop down and head below the taller block. Use Ascend to pass through it and reach the top of the block.

4. Defeat the Soldier Construct

Use a bow and arrow and aim at the eye to deal massive damage.

5. Destroy the Crates on the Right Side

Head to the right side of the area to find two crates blocking a small opening. Use a weapon to destroy the crates.

6. Use Ascend While Inside the Small Opening

Head inside the small opening and use Ascend on the ceiling to teleport to the top of the area.

7. Get the Second Hidden Treasure Chest

Head inside the small opening and use Ascend on the ceiling to teleport to the top of the area.

8. Cut the Ropes

Head to the left side of the area and cut the two ropes to drop down the slab.

9. Head Below the Slab and Use Ascend

Head to the area so that you are below the slab and use Ascend to pass through it and get to the top.

10. Use Ascend on the Moving Platform

Aim up and use Ascend on the moving platform to get on top of it. Wait for the platform to move near the block above and use Ascend again to reach the top.

11. Examine the Shrine

Head up the stairs and examine the shrine to obtain a Light of Blessing.
