Impa makes her return to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) to investigate the geoglyphs and dragon's tears and find clues about Princess Zelda's whereabouts. Read on to learn more about Impa and get to know her profile, backstory, and her role in Tears of the Kingdom.
In Tears of the Kingdom, you will first meet Impa during the Impa and the Geoglyphs Main Quest. She believes that the geoglyph will provide clues to Princess Zelda's disappearance.
You can find her in front of the New Serenne Stable, near the broken hot-air balloon.

After finding all the Dragon's Tears from Geoglyphs, Impa confirms that Princess Zelda would not be able to return to her true form after becoming the Light Dragon. Despite this, she is determined that there is a way to restore her back to her true form and tries to find answers from ancient literature.
The Dragon's Tears Walkthrough
Impa is the former chief of Sheikah who also served the royal family of Hyrule. During the Calamity, she stepped down from position to guide Link and made her granddaughter Paya resume her duties as the Chief.

Impa is the younger sister of Purah. They are both from Kakariko Village. While Impa spent most of her time serving the royal family of Hyrule, Purah focused more on researching Sheikah and Zonai Technology.
Impa is the grandmother of Paya, who eventually takes her place as the Chief of Sheikah.
Impa is a former royal adviser of Hyrule who served the kingdom for many years. She also served as a mentor and source of information to Link in during his quests and explorations.
