Hyrule Castle has a myriad of tough enemies waiting at almost every corner of the castle. If you're planning to head there early or just want to visit the area outside of the Main Quest, make sure that you have armor capable of letting you deal as much damage as possible, like the Barbarian Armor Set.

You can also opt to protect yourself from the Gloom that has consumed the castle by equipping the Depths Armor Set or eating Warding dishes which give Link Gloom Resistance.

Weapon-wise, it is best to bring melee weapons and bows with high firepower if you plan on fighting your way in.

Progress Through Main Quests

Tears of the Kingdom TOTK - Crisis at Hyrule Castle

The entirety of Hyrule Castle is meant to be explored during the second part of Crisis at Hyrule Castle, which is halfway through the Main Quests and right after helping all four main regions in Hyrule during Regional Phenomena.

By that point, you should also have all four Sages at your side, who will provide assistance during combat.

You Can Go to Hyrule Castle Anytime

Due to the slight non-linearity of the game, you can technically go to Hyrule Castle anytime you want.

Aside from the castle floating high in the sky, nothing is barring you from entering it early in the game after clearing the Great Sky Island and getting the paraglider.

How to Get to Hyrule Castle

Paraglide from Lookout Landing Tower

Paragliding is one of the best ways to reach Hyrule Castle. Simply head to the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower located in Lookout Landing, launch Link to the sky, and paraglide from there.

You will need to advance the story to get the paraglider, so don't forget to obtain it first!

If you're coming to Hyrule Castle with a low stamina gauge, you might want to bring some Endura Carrot dishes with you. This is to help you restore and increase your max stamina after eating. One Endurra carrot may suffice, but to be sure, bring at least two!

You can also cook Energizing Dishes if you do not have any Endura Carrots. This will help you recover any missing stamina from paragliding or climbing.
