Changing time and taking shelter can help you protect Link from lightning strikes during thunderstorms in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK). Read on to learn more about what you can do during thunderstorms and how to avoid them.
List of Contents
If you have any metal-based equipment, make sure to remove them during a thunderstorm. Having metal equipment increases the chances of you getting struck by lightning, which is something you want to avoid as this can cause massive damages.
Staying inside a building during thunderstorms is the best way to avoid getting hit by lightning. You can take shelter inside a house, a building, or a nearby stable to keep yourself safe.
If you do find yourself far from any of these places, you can try predicting the next lightning strike by simply listening to the last one. There is usually a short intervals in between strikes, so make sure to hurry after hearing one!
Alternatively, you can fast travel to Shrines and Skyview Towers to avoid getting stuck during thunderstorms.

Another great method to manipulate thunderstorms is with the help of campfires. This allows you to change in-game time and possibly end thunderstorms after choosing how much time you want to pass. However, there is still a chance of thunderstorms in new days, so try changing the time twice if it doesn't change it the first time.
Lodging in Stable's Inn can also help with this, but this will require a small amount of Rupees to change in-game time. Like with campfires, there will still be a small chance of thunderstorms, so try to stay in twice or more to increase the chances of days with no thunderstorm.
Stable Locations
Throwing a metal weapon against a group of enemies will trigger an electric effect that attracts lightning. Once lightning strikes the weapon, it will cause massive damage to nearby monsters, making this a good method of clearing large groups of enemies during thunderstorms.
