The Vow of Sidon is obtained by clearing the Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK). This guide will explain how to use the Vow of Sidon, and how to Summon Sidon.

How to Use the Vow of Sidon
Press A to Spawn a Water Shield
Pressing A will give Link a water shield that lasts up to about 10 seconds, regardless if you have your shield up or not. This water shield will block enemy attacks until it depletes. Once the avatar's aura is charged, interact with it again to get another shield if the first one has already popped.
You can also use this shield to trigger the passive effect of the Lightscale Trident to double its attack stat.
Can Also Generate Long-Range Water Slashes
Once you have a water shield, you can swing your weapon to create a water slash that deals damage and can reach a small distance. If you do swing your weapon, note that it will use the water shield to create the slash, leaving you without a water shield to block attacks.
You can also perform Ground Attacks (Jump + Attack) and it will still create a water slash.
Can Also Provide Heat Protection
The Water Shield can also protect Link from any source of Heat Damage. This temporary Heat Resistance will not ward off instantly even after the shield pops off.
This is also a good shield to have when exploring areas with unbearable heat like the Fire Temple.
Sidon Fights Automatically in Battle
Sidon will also engage with enemies on active battles and attack them with his trident. He can also lure enemies and put all their atttention on him, allowing Link to attack enemies freely on other directions.
How to Summon Sidon
Summon or Dismiss Sidon from the Key Items Menu
To summon or dismiss the avatar of Sidon, open your inventory and look for the Vow of Sidon under Key Items. From here, you can choose to either summon or dismiss Sidon.
Will Be Summoned By Default
The avatar of Sidon will be summoned by default upon the acquisition of the vow. You can only dismiss it in your inventory using the same process above.
Does Not Appear in Settlements
Like other Vows, Sidon will not show up when you are in settlements, including the area in Zora's Domain where you first receive it after the Water Temple. This means that you should first leave any settlement and head into an open world area in order for Sidon to show up and aid you.
How to Upgrade Vow of Sidon, Sage of Water
Exchange 4 Sage's Wills to Receive the Solemn Vow of Sidon
You can exchange 4 Sage's Wills to any Goddess Statues found across Hyrule to upgrade the Vow of Sidon into the Solemn Vow of Sidon, which increases the sage's attack power.
Upgrading the vows does not reduce the cooldown of their skills nor gain any additional effects. This might be a little underwhelming for most, but at least they get stronger in fights!
