Rocket Shield Procedure

1 Equip a shield. Any shield with decent durability and isn't badly damaged will work.
2 Fuse the rocket to your shield.
3 Raise your shield to use your new Rocket Shield by pressing ZL.
You can only use Rocket Shield once. The attached rocket will disappear after reaching a certain height.
4 Once your Rocket Shield breaks, open your paraglider and move to safety.

Keep in mind that long pressing ZL will activate your Rocket Shield. Make sure to only press it once when fusing.

How to Use Rocket Shield

Reach High Areas Without Climbing

Zelda TotK - Use Rocket Shield
Rocket Shields serve as a great alternative to climbing. It will help you reach high altitudes faster than normal climbing without using stamina and worrying about slipping on wet surfaces.

Always Bring 3 Rocket Shields

When exploring areas, especially regions surrounded by mountains and cliffs, it is recommended to carry at least 3 Rocket Shields with you. This is to help you navigate these areas faster and even escape enemies you do not want to engage with.

Rocket Shields will eventually break as it consumes durability. It is recommended to use shields that can easily break and save the better ones for combats. You can use Pot Lid, for example, as a base for rocket shields. It is one of the most accessible shields in the game and you can gather a lot of these from stables.

Rocket Shields will not use too much of the shield's durability compared to Shield Surfing. This makes it a much better tool for explorations compared to Shield Surfing.

Taking rockets from Oromuwak Shrine will always force rockets to respawn, so make sure to bring as many shields as you can to convert them all to Rocket Shields!

Mayam Shrine

Zelda Zelda TotK - Mayam Shrinel.

There are also a handful of Rockets located on the North Hyrule Sky Archipelago as part of the Mayam Shrine Quest. Find the island with the roaming Flux Construct 1 and you can take all the rockets from the opposite side.

You can also get Rockets from Zonai Dispensers. This is the most convenient way to get Rockets as this also lets you carry it inside your inventory. Having rockets with you allows you to create rocket shields anytime and anywhere.
