Doing the Recovering The Hero's Sword Quest will activate a temporary tracker that allows you to see where the Light Dragon is. You can get this quest from The Great Deku Tree, located deep inside Korok Forest.
Keep in mind that this tracker will disappear after taking the Master Sword and the only way to see the dragon after is by chance.
Saving the Great Deku Tree can help you lower the Light Dragon's path. This will make it easier to spot the Light Dragon, especially when using Skyview Towers.
Keep in mind that the process will require you to go to the Depths and defeat the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon lurking around its trunk, so make sure to be prepared before attempting to save it.
How to Get Through the Lost Woods and Cure Deku Tree
Using Sensor + will help you track anything registered in the Hyrule Compendium. If you have the Light Dragon registered in the compendium, you can set it as your sensor target to track it.
If you have all Skyview Towers activated, you can also try using them to spot the Light Dragon. It will pass by all available Skyview Towers except Lookout Landing Skyview Tower.
The footage above shows the flight path of the Light Dragon on both the surface and sky using the Hero's Path feature from the Purah Pad.
How to Unlock the Hero's Path Mode
Light Dragon Material | How to Get |
---|---|
Light Dragon's Scale | Hit the Light Dragon's Body |
Shard of Light Dragon's Spike | Pick up the spikes on the Light Dragon's body |
Shard of Light Dragon's Fang | Hit the Light Dragon's Mouth |
Light Dragon's Talon | Hit the Light Dragon's Feet |
Light Dragon's Horn | Hit the Light Dragon's Horn |
Hitting the Light Dragon is a proven way to get these materials. You will have to hit specific spots to get the materials you need.
All the items listed above will have a chance to drop. In any case that you wanted to have another one of these, you can wait ten minutes to force a respawn.
When waiting for a respawn, you need to wait ten minutes in real life and keep the game running. Opening your menu will interfere with the waiting time.
After hitting the Light Dragon to get these materials, there's a chance that they might fall instead. If so, you can dive down to follow it and catch it before you hit the ground.
You can also find the Master Sword on top of the Light Dragon. This is the only way to get the Master Sword and you will be needing extra stamina to successfully pull it from its forehead.
