How to Perfect Dodge and Flurry Rush

Tears of the Kingdom TOTK - How to Perfect Dodge and Flurry Rush

Leap sidewards or backwards to execute a perfect dodge, and press the Y button after to perform a flurry rush in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Read on for more details about perfect dodging and flurry rushes!

How to Perfect Dodge

Leap Sidewards or Backwards As Enemy Attacks

To execute a perfect dodge, you need to be able to leap out of the way of your enemy's attack at the right moment. Hold the ZL button and wait for your target's attack, then press the B button while holding the left stick to the left, right, or down to dodge.

Time will slow down if you successfully perform a perfect dodge, but it will not if you only do a normal dodge.

Observe the Enemy's Attacks

Link can dodge by leaping to the right, left, or backwards, but you need to dodge away from the direction of the enemy's attack or else you will still end up receiving the blunt end of their swings.

If the enemy swings their weapon sideways, dodge backwards to do a backflip. If the enemy swings their weapon overhead or is charging forward, jump sideways.

If you dodge successfully, time will slow down, and you will be able to perform a flurry rush.

How to Flurry Rush

Mash Y Button After Perfect Dodge

After successfully executing a perfect dodge, rapidly press the Y button to perform a flurry rush. This will make Link approach the enemy closely and launch a series of attacks upon pressing Y, so mash away!

Lasts for a Few Seconds

You can only build up flurry rushes for a few seconds, so make sure to mash hard to land as many attacks as possible after the flurry rush period.

Tips on Flurry Rushes

Use Weapons with Improved Flurry Rush

Executing a flurry rush gives you a couple of free hits to damage the enemy, so make sure to attack with the strongest weapon in your arsenal to deal as much damage as possible.

You can improve your damage output if you attack with weapons with Improved Flurry Rush, such as Royal weapons. You can even attach materials with high Fuse Attack Power to power it up even more!

Passive Abilities for Weapons Explained

Switch Weapons Before Attacking

You can switch weapons after perfect dodging and before executing flurry rushes, in case you are using a weaker weapon.

Tears of the Kingdom TOTK - Flurry Rushes in Combat

Flurry Rushes, much like perfect parries, shine the most when used in head-to-head battles against one target, as you will be able to launch a counterattack almost immediately.

You will less likely be able to perfect dodge when dealing with multiple enemies, as they all have different attack patterns and timings; consider using other strategies when fighting a crowd!
