Players can choose their wands at Ollivander's during the Welcome to Hogsmeade quest. Once you make it to Hogsmeade, head to Ollivander's to pick out a wand and customize it however you like.

If you linked your Fan Account to your game, the wand you received from the Wizarding World Website's Wand Quiz is transferrable to your Hogwarts Legacy game. You can obtain and use it by linking your Wizarding World account to your WB Games account!

The Wood Type category consists of three customization options: Wood Type, Length, and Flexibility.
There are a total of 38 types of wood you can available when choosing your wand. The table below shows the list of all wood types available.
Wood Type | Description |
---|---|
Acacia | Difficult wands to use as It suppresses its power to all but the most talented. |
Alder | Alder wands seek owners with an amenable nature, quite opposite to the Alder wood's obstinate property. |
Apple | Witches and wizards with high ambition are those that apple wood wands are often best suited with. |
Ash | Over-confident wizards and witches should refrain from using Ash wands as it will only bring disappointment. It is attracted to those who possess courage yet are never endowed with foolishness. |
Aspen | Aspen wand owners possess great determination and are often skilled duelists. |
Beech | Those with a bigoted nature should not wield Beech wands as it is most suited to witches or wizards with an open mind. |
Blackthorn | Possessed with immense power, they are often among wizards and witches that are highly skilled in combat. |
Black Walnut | A stunning type of wood that performs well to owners who are honest and true to themselves. |
Cedar | One might think twice about challenging cedar wand wielders as they are sharp-witted and perceptive. |
Cherry | Yields strange power and performs best to wizards and witches with a strong mind. |
Chestnut | Chestnut wands attaches to those who do well in nature; taming magical beasts, and are expectional in Herbology. |
Cypress | Heroic, brave, and noble are what cypress wands' seek in a wizard or witch. |
Dogwood | Peculiar and seeking exhilarating moments, one must not forget its ability in exceptional magic. |
Ebony | Most used in combat and transfiguration. Find themselves in the hands of impervious wizards and witches. |
Elder | Rarest wand wood and the trickiest wand to master. Pairs with a witch or wizard who is destined for great things. |
Elm | Graceful in producing charms and spells, Elm wands seek matches with presence and are majestic. |
English Oak | Named "King of the Forest", English Oak wands call upon those with courage, strength, and loyalty. |
Fir | Possesses resiliency among trees; Fir wands are most suited for the strong-minded and with great concentration. |
Hawthorn | Both adept in healing and curses, Hawthorn wands should only be wielded by those with talent. |
Hazel | Best suited to wizards or witches that can manage their emotions accordingly as it reflects their master's emotions. |
Holly | It has a knack for choosing wizards and witches with dangerous adventures. |
Hornbeam | Chooses a wizard or a witch with a great passion for what they do. |
Larch | Larch wands are known to imbue courage and confidence in their owners. These wands possess great appeal and power. |
Laurel | It tends to sever ties with rather sluggish owners. They are also known to discharge a lighting strike should a wizard or a witch attempt to steal it. |
Maple | Desires ambition in a witch or wizard and loses power when presented with a lack of inspiration. One of the most lavish wands for centuries. |
Pear | Most known for their resiliency, maintaining their original look even after years of usage. Highly respected and popular. |
Pine | Pine wands find amusement in being used by a witch or wizard who is imaginative and innovative. |
Poplar | Content in wizards or witches that show integrity. |
Red Oak | While being amongst wands that have great appeal, Red Oak wands are also one to possess exceptional reflexes; These wands are great for duels. |
Redwood | Known for bringing good fortune to any wizard or witch that wields them. |
Rowan | Rowan wands offer power to defensive charms, which makes them favorable to most wizards and witches. |
Silver Lime | Possesses a rather attractive look, Silver Lime wands are best paired with Seers, and those who practice Legilimency. |
Spruce | Spruce wands should be handled firmly and with resiliency as it appears to produce magic not close to what the wielder thinks of casting. |
Sycamore | It is considered one of the most highly-prized wand woods, and one should refrain from using it without interest; It combusts when used for dull activities. |
Vine | Vine wands are fascinated with wizards and witches with a great purpose in life. |
Walnut | Walnut wands are terrifyingly powerful when possessed by a wizard or witch with such brilliance, making it dangerous when in the hands of those without morals. |
Willow | It holds healing powers and is reputed with the ability to cast advanced, non-verbal magic. Willow wands select only those with great talent. |
Yew | It holds a reputation within duels and curses. Those who possess Yew wands are not always evil since some known heroes own them. |
Players can choose between nine and a half inches and fourteen and a half inches for the length of their wand. This does not affect gameplay and is purely for cosmetic purposes.

You can customize your wand's appearance and color based on the list of wand styles shown in the table below. Each wand style has three color variations to choose from.

Once you have locked in your wand choice when you first meet Ollivander, you will no longer be able to change your wand for that character at any point afterwards. Make sure to choose wisely!
