Find a way into the Korok Forest

Minshi Woods Chasm is located southeast of the Great Hyrule Forest. You can fast travel to Ekochiu Shrine if it's activated and head north until you find the gloom-covered entrance.

Find Uihcoke Lightroot

Upon entering the chasm, glide south and activate the Uihcoke Lightroot to add the surrounding area's topography to your map. Now, head northwest from your starting position (chasm entrance) until you reach the Korok Grove.

The grove is right below the Great Hyrule Forest, so you can open your map and switch between the Surface and Depths layers to check where you currently are underground.

Find Eknupup Lightroot

You will eventually run into Eknupup Lightroot, which you can activate to gain more visibility. If you turn to the southwest direction, you'll spot another lightroot not too far from your current position. Head there and activate Rikonasum Lightroot.

Use Ascend

Walk up the stairs to the south and Ascend through the ceiling to reach Korok Forest.

Cleanse the Great Deku Tree

You'll immediately get this eerie feeling as soon as you reach the surface. None of the Koroks nor the Deku Tree itself will be able to respond so you'll have to get to the bottom of this yourself, literally.

Enter the base of the Deku Tree and drop down the chasm in the middle room.

Defeat Phantom Ganon

At the bottom is a room filled with gloom and about five Gloom Hands waiting to attack. This is arguably the hardest part of this quest so warp back out if you need to prepare more.

Prepare for Phantom Ganon

Phantom Ganon will take the stage as soon as the last Gloom Hand falls. Defeat it to finally cleanse the Deku Tree.

Find the Master Sword

Return to the Deku Tree and talk to him to unlock a new Memory, from when you retrieved the Master Sword last.

The Deku Tree will also tell you that he can sense the Master Sword on the northeast corner of Hyrule... and it's moving.

How to Beat the Gloom Hands

Stock Up on Sundelion Dishes

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom TotK - removing gloom-damaged hearts with Sunny Fried Wild Greens

Using Sundelions as ingredient on a dish gives it an effect that will restore hearts you lost through the gloom. Attacking the Gloom Hands head-on will constantly expose you to gloom, so make sure you have enough Sundelion dishes, in addition to recovery dishes, before dropping down the chasm

Use Bomb Flower Arrows From Above

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom TotK - shooting the Gloom Hands from above

There are ledges along the walls of the area that you can use Ascend on. You can use these to escape from the Gloom Hands and heal up but most importantly, group them together to maximize the effect of Bomb Flower-fused Arrows.

Make sure to shoot these arrows while time is slowed down (aim your bow as you drop below) to increase the number of arrows you can release!

Perform Flurry Rushes

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom TotK - performing Flurry Rush on Phantom Ganon

This fight should be much easier than the previous one. Just keep your distance from the gloom around it and close in as soon as it disappears.

Another way to deal a lot of damage is to perfect dodge its slow melee attacks and perform a Flurry Rush.
