Sega launches their own account system service that provides the latest Sega and Atlus news, plus exclusive in-game benefits. Read on to find out more about this service and how you can get your hands on free Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii DLC!
Sega Launches Sega Account
A One-Stop Account For All Your Sega/Atlus Needs, Plus Bonuses
Sega hops into the account system trend with its own service that aims to bring lots of benefits to its users, aptly named Sega Account. As written on the official website, "SEGA Account is a profile that lets you maximize SEGA's online services and offers a ton of benefits."
Sega Account users will receive the latest news about Sega/Atlus games, as well as upcoming events and promotions. As an extra treat, simply being an account holder will grant access to exclusive bonuses, as well as the ability to link gaming accounts across different platforms for easy tracking. In the future, users will even be able to look at their records for the different games they’ve played.
Starting off its launch with a bang, players who create a Sega Account and link a platform account that is able to play Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii—specifically Steam, PlayStation Network, or Xbox accounts—before March 7th will be able to receive a code for the free Kazuma Kiryu Special Outfit DLC. This outfit decks out protagonist Goro Majima in Kiryu’s iconic suit. A unique code will be given to eligible players starting February 17th, and can be redeemed in-game once it launches on February 28th.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis (abbreviated as NGS) players are also in for a treat as linking their Sega Accounts to NGS will net them special benefits, namely 300 Star Gems, 100x C/Endymio, 500x Card Scratch Tickets, 3 Beauty Salon Passes, 3 Color Change Passes, and a cute Lobby Action that features your character proudly holding up the Sega logo in the air.
May Be Connected To Upcoming Super Game Title
Fans speculate that this surprise launch is tied to Sega’s plans of creating a "Super Game," a plan they stated in a report back in 2022. According to the report, Sega CEO Haruki Satomi said, "One strategy for generating such hit titles is the creation of a 'Super Game' - a large-scale global title. We're currently developing such a game, targeting release by the fiscal year ending March 2026."
It has been two years since they first dropped details on the project, and there hasn’t been any concrete evidence as to what is going on with this Super Game. However, Sega and its subsidiaries have notably been working on a plethora of game titles, ranging from classics such as Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, to wholly new projects like the mysterious Yakuza-like Project Century. The release of the Sega Account platform might be the beginning of a new era for Sega, but only time will tell how all of these plans will play out in the future.
