Orcust Breakdown

Orcust Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Orcust is an archetype of Dark Machine Monsters. Their playstyle revolves around setting up the Graveyard for multiple combo plays. The Main Deck Orcust monsters lock you from Special Summoning Monsters other than Dark when you use their effects.

Orcust can easily cycle through the Graveyard and the Banish zone, making banish cards like D.D Crow to only slow them down a little.

Orcust Harp Horror Orcust Brass Bombard Orcust Cymbal Skeleton

The "Instrument" Orcust Monsters utilize their effects by banishing themselves from the Graveyard.

Orcust Monster Summons from
Harp Horror Main Deck
Brass Bombard Hand
Cymbal Skeleton Graveyard

The main goal of the Deck is to put them into the Graveyard as soon as possible to utilize their effects and swarm the field.

Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight Scrap Recycler Armageddon Knight Dark Grepher Foolish Burial

Since the Deck lives and dies from the Graveyard effects, effects that send a card directly from the Deck to the Graveyard will greatly help the consistency of the deck. With the Graveyard acting as your second hand, you need to fill it up with a bunch of Orcust Monsters.

Scrap Recycler, Armageddon Knight, and Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight let you send a Monster from the Deck to the Graveyard upon summoning them.

Dark Grepher also has an effect that sends a card from the Deck but it discards for a cost, which is a good thing since you can discard any Orcust Monster to send them to the Graveyard.

Foolish Burial is a simple Spell Card that lets you send any monster from the Deck to the Graveyard, another way to set up your graveyard with Orcust Monsters.

Orcust Knightmare World Legacy - "World Wand" Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher

Orcust Knightmare and World Legacy - "World Wand" lets you cycle through your Graveyard and Banish more efficiently.

Gizmek Orochi on the other hand is another Dark Machine Monster that can be used as Link Material fodder for I:P Masquerena or Combo trigger for Topologic Zeroboros.
Gizmek Orochi works similarly to Fairy Tail - Snow, but Gizmek Orochi is a Dark monster, so it can bypass the restrictions of Orcust.

Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star Galatea, the Orcust Automaton Orcustrated Babel Orcust Crescendo

Dingirsu and Galatea are your primary boss monsters of the Deck. Galatea helps you set up your Orcust Spell/Trap, while Dingirsu has built-in protection and non-targeting removal.

Orcustrated Babel makes all your Orcust effects to be Quick-Effect. With this, you can easily swarm the field even during your opponent's turn and use any strong on-summon effects of your monster.

Orcust Crescendo is a searchable Counter Trap Card that lets you negate any Spell/Trap or Monster effect as long as you have an Orcust Link monster on the field. This also lets you add to hand any Dark Machine monster from the banish or the deck.

Core Combos and Interactions

Standard Combo

This 1-Card Orcust Combo can be bridged into multiple other variants. This Combo will be the bread and butter of the deck.
For this Combo, anything from Armageddon Knight, Scrap Recyler, Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight, Dark Grepher or Foolish Burial will do.

As long as you send the needed Orcust Monster to the Graveyard, the flow of the combo will still be the same.

Required Cards
Scrap Recycler
Step Description
1 Normal Summon Scrap Recycler then activate its effect to send Orcust Harp Horror from the Deck to the Graveyard.
2 Activate Orcust Harp Horrors's effect, Banishing itself to Special Summon Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight from Deck. Activate Girsu's effect to send Orcust Knightmare from the Deck to the Graveyard.
3 Activate Orcust Knightmare's effect, Banishing itself to send World Legacy - "World Wand" from the Deck to the Graveyard.
4 Activate World Legacy - "World Wand", by Banishing itself to Special Summon Orcust Knightmare from the Banish zone.
Note: Orcust Knightmare's Attack buff effect does not matter here.
5 Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton using Orcust Knightmare and Scrap Recycler as materials. Activate Galatea's effect to shuffle the World Wand back to the Deck and set and activate Orcustrated Babel from the Deck.
6 Overlay Galatea, the Orcust Automaton to Xyz Summon Dingirsu, Orcust of the Evening Star. Activate Dingirsu's on Summon effect to attach Orcust Harp Horror from the Banish zone.
7 Link Summon I:P Masquerena using Dingirsu, Orcust of the Evening Star and Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight as materials.

Your End Board will look like this:

Field Spell:Orcustrated Babel
I:P Masquerena X
- - - - -
- - - - -

Notes:
With Orcustrated Babel active on your field, you can activate the Harp Horror in your graveyard to then Special Summon Dingirsu.

Dingirsu will then send a card on your opponent's field to the graveyard. This is a non-targeting removal.

I:P Masquerena can later be used to Link Summon into Knightmare Unicorn.

Work in Progress - Will add more additional combos soon!

Alternative Options

P.U.N.K Engine

Noh-P.U.N.K. Ze Amin Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Sharakusai Noh-P.U.N.K. Foxy Tune Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Rising Carp Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon

The P.U.N.K. engine helps with the deck with its easy Synchro plays to summon Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon easily and potentially hit good cards with its effect. The mixture of Psychic and Machines in this deck provides more lines of combo plays.

Sky Striker Engine

Sky Striker Mobilize - Engage! Sky Striker Mecha - Hornet Drones Sky Striker Mecha - Widow Anchor Sky Striker Ace - Kagari

The Sky Striker engine fits well with Orcust, as it gives free monsters on the field that can be later used to Link Summon Galatea. It can also provide disruption in the form of Widow Anchor.

DPE Engine

Predaplant Verte Anaconda Destiny HERO - Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer Destiny HERO - Dasher Destiny HERO - Blade Master Fusion Destiny

Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer or more commonly known as the DPE Engine can also be used in the Orcust deck. If by any means that you have an extra 2 monsters on the field, you can use them to Link Summon Verte Anaconda that will use its effect to Fusion Summon Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer.

Note that DPE and Verte Anaconda are Dark Monsters, so you are not locked by the effects of Orcusts.

Danger!

Danger! Nessie! Danger!? Jackalope? Danger!? Tsuchinoko? Danger! Mothman!

The Danger! cards can help "fix" your hand by discarding the Orcust monsters in your hand, as well as Summoning the Dangers from your hand. A free monster on the field as well as serving as a draw engine for the deck helps with the consistency of Orcust.

Runick Engine

Hugin the Runick Wings Geri the Runick Fangs Runick Fountain Runick Slumber

Runick's Quick-Play spell gimmicks add another layer of Disruptions for Orcust. Geri and Hugin let you discard for cost to search for the Fountain.

Discarding cards is beneficial to the Orcust deck as it lets you set up your Graveyard easily.

Other Options

Mathematician Allure of Darkness Barricadeborg Blocker

Other non-engine options are Mathematician, Allure of Darkness, and Barricadeborg Blocker.
Mathematician's effect is similar to Armageddon Knight. It lets you send any Level 4 or lower monster from the Deck to the Graveyard.

Allure of Darkness lets you draw more into combo pieces and since Orcust deck mostly comprises Dark monsters, the cost here is negligible.

Barricadeborg Blocker lets you discard 1 card from hand to search a Continuous or Field Spell from Deck/GY to hand during the end phase. Its main role is just to discard Orcust cards that are in your hand.

Boss Monsters

Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star
Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star Dingirsu is one of Orcust's ace monsters. It has built-in protection and a non-targeting removal effect.
Galatea, the Orcust Automaton
Galatea, the Orcust Automaton Galatea serves as the bridge for the combo as it lets you search for Orcustrated Babel or Orcust Crescendo to maximize the effects of your Orcust monsters.
Topologic Zeroboros
Topologic Zeroboros Zeroboros has a strong influence on the board as it pressures your opponent into board wiping. Paired with I:P Masquerena and Gizmek Orochi, you can destroy the board at will.

Best Decks to Use Against Orcust

Gravekeeper's

Gravekeepers Top Image
Gravekeeper's can easily access Necrovalley making it easier to shutdown decks that rely on the Graveyard. Orcust also has no big-attack monster in the main deck, making it harder to find an alternative win condition for them

Best Cards to Tech Against Orcust

Artifact Lancea
Artifact Lancea One of the best handtraps that fully counter Orcust. It prevents card from getting banished, resulting in Orcust's main gameplan to crumble.
Dimension Shifter
Dimension Shifter Preventing Orcust monsters to hit the graveyard also slows down the tempo of their game.
Nibiru, the Primal Being
Nibiru, the Primal Being Orcust is susceptible to board wipe and they have no way of negating Nibiru mid-combo.
Imperial Iron Wall
Imperial Iron Wall A floodgate that works similarly to Artifact Lancea. If Orcust cannot banish their cards, there is no way for them to activate their effects.
