Icejade Ra Breakdown

Icejade Ra Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

With other fast-paced meta decks thriving in the game, The Winged Dragon of Ra and Icejades combo provides a decent engine that's more than satisfying when playing the Divine Beast. Once you get all your pieces in play, you're pretty much just controlling the flow of the game by towering an undying God over your opponents.

This particular divine beast comes in three forms, all of which have specific summoning conditions and effects that commands the flow of the game.

The Winged Dragon of Ra gathers high stats whenever it is summoned through whatever means. It's Sphere Mode can clear up your opponent's board of annoying monsters by turning them into tributes, while protecting itself from attacks and targeted card effects, shifting in ownership until it can bring out the Winged Dragon of Ra back into the field with 4000 ATK and DEF. When your Winged Dragon of Ra gets sent to the Graveyard, the Immortal Phoenix rises from the Graveyard to take its place instead and it can even send a monster to the Graveyard for 1000 LP.

Since the God card is a bit slow by itself, you'll need to protect yourself on the field until then. The different types of Slime monsters come into play to help you out. Metal Reflect Slime and Egyptian God Slime will help you turn the tide and bring a powerful monster to the field while you take your time to set up the perfect board.

Reactor Slime helps you bring out the Divine Beast by bringing out two Slime Tokens whenever it gets summoned. Guardian Slime is another powerful defensive Slime monster that can help bring out the Egyptian God Slime which is a powerful monster in itself but can also be used to bring out the Winged Dragon of Ra.

Ancient Chant.png Millennium Revelation.png Blaze Cannon.png Mound of the Bound Creator.png Soul Crossing.png Sun God Unification.png

The support for this deck comes mostly in the form of Spells and Traps that could help summon the Divine-Beast monster easier with cards like Soul Crossing, Ancient Chant and Millennium Revelation. Blaze Cannon provides a variety of choices to benefit from depending on the situation, Mound of the Bound Creator a Field Spell that provides a powerful protection for your Egyptian God card, and Sun God Unification which acts as an eject button for your Divine Beast if something goes wrong.

Icejade Kosmochlor.png Icejade Creation Kingfisher.png Icejade Tremora.png Icejade Acti.png Icejade Tinola.png Icejade Aegirine.png

While the Slime monsters provide a powerful stall engine, you could speed up the summoning process of the Divine Beast with the Icejades. The Icejade monsters provide another powerful engine that synergizes perfectly with the Slime monsters since both are water attributes and the Icejades specializes in special summoning Water Attributes from the hand, graveyard, or even from the field as equipped cards.

Core Combos and Interactions

With the Winged Dragon of Ra and Icejade combo, the main goal is to get Guardian Slime into the graveyard and to Special Summon it to the field through a variety of effects, either through Icejade Acti or Marincess Coral Anemone effects. You can even summon Guardian Slime through it's own effect but that would be too risky. Once you get Guardian Slime or Metal Reflect Slime on to the field you can bring out Egyptian God Slime to bring out the Winged Dragon of Ra and obliterate your opponent.

Once you bring the Divine Beast on to the field, the mission is to keep it on the field for as long as possible to maintain a powerful field presence and control the flow of the game.

Boss Monsters

The Winged Dragon of Ra
The Winged Dragon of Ra One of the Divine Beasts, The Winged Dragon of Ra acts as the Big Boss Monster of this deck with a very high ATK stat and support cards that make it nearly invincible. Even when taken out, the Immortal Phoenix card can help maintain a powerful field presence until you can summon another Winged Dragon of Ra.
Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe
Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe If you get the chance to have two level 10 monsters on your field, which is a level shared by multiple monsters in this deck. If you get the chance to summon this card try it out to deal massive damage to your opponent's LP.
Egyptian God Slime
Egyptian God Slime The Egyptian God Slime can easily be brought to the field with the Slime Monsters for its Fusion Material Requirements. Powerful already as it is with a high stat wall that proves troublesome for opponents, it can even act as the only tribute needed for summoning the Winged Dragon of Ra.
The Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix
The Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix The Immortal Phoenix is another form for the Winged Dragon of Ra when the main card gets into trouble. While it definitely is a powerful card with high stats and an unstoppable summon. It's also immune to card effects and can let you send a monster from the field to the graveyard for 1000 LP, though it only remains on the field for 1 turn before it goes to the graveyard and turns into its Sphere Mode.

Best Cards to Tech Against Icejade Ra

Imperial Order
Imperial Order The Winged Dragon of Ra is definitely a powerful monster but it needs to rely on its support cards, which a lot of them come in the form of Spell Cards. Imperial Order immediately makes it harder to achieve combos by simply denying the activation and effects of Spell Cards while it remains on the field.
Skill Drain
Skill Drain Skill Drain is one of the most annoying Trap Cards in the game with a lot of decks relying on Effect Monsters to work and execute combos. It can easily prevent the Winged Dragon of Ra from activating it's effects, which can end up with the Divine Beast having 0 ATK and DEF, making it vulnerable for attacks.
Macro Cosmos
Macro Cosmos By banishing cards instead of sending them to the graveyard, Macro Cosmos effectively stops the Winged Dragon of Ra loop of special summoning different versions of itself. Making it problematic to retain a strong field presence to fend off your opponent's monsters.
