How to Beat Elite Four Flint

Watch Out for Rapidash's Hypnosis

BDSP - Gyarados against Flint

Rapidash is incredibly fast and knows the move Hypnosis. If your Pokemon falls asleep, quickly recover with a Full Restore or Full Heal and fight back.

Use Special Moves Against Steelix

BDSP - Lucario against Flint

Steelix has high defense, which makes it difficult to take down with Physical moves, so we recommned using Special moves to defeat it, such as Aura Sphere from Lucario or Surf from Gastradon.

Defeat Lopunny with Physical Moves

BDSP - Flint

We do not recommend using Special Moves for Lopunny because it knows the move Mirror Coat, which returns double the damage received from a Special Move. The best Physical move to beat Lopunny is Close Combat learned by Staraptor, who can also lower Lopunny's attack with Intimdate.

Counter Minimize with Moves that Never Miss

BDSP - Gengar against Flint

Drifblim knows the move Minimize, which can make it difficult to even land a hit. you can counter Minimize with moves that never miss, such as Shock Wave from Luxray or Aerial Ace from Staraptor.

Watch Out For Baton Pass

BDSP - Flint

Drifblim also knows the move Baton Pass, which allows it to pass on all its stat buffs to Infernape and make it more difficult to take down. You can avoid this by defeating Drifblim in two turns or less.

Infernape Holds a Focus Sash

BDSP - Staraptor against Flint

Because Flint's Infernape holds a Focus Sash, you cannot take the Pokemon down in one move. We recommend using a weaker move to chip at its health so the Focus Sash does not activate. After that, take it down quickly in a single move.

Bring a team that can handle all five battles

As you will have to use the same party for battling Flint that you use against the other three members of the Elite Four, as well as the Champion, it is important to bring a versatile team that is effective against all four Elite Four members and gives coverage to Cynthia's team as well.

Best Elite Four Teams

Generally speaking, you will want to bring the six Pokemon you have trained to the highest level up to this point, and the team composition will likely not change much from the main team that you used throughout your adventure. Having a Grass, Fire, and Water type on your team will cover most of your bases, while allowing room for powerful Pokemon such as Lucario and Garchomp to help with odd matchups.

While Lucian, the fourth trainer, has a team mostly centered around psychic type Pokemon, it is not totally necessary to bring a Dark / Bug / Ghost Pokemon. While having some moves of this type on your team will certainly give you an edge, the majority of his Pokemon have low defense and can simply be overpowered without type effectiveness, and meanwhile Bronzong can be defeated with Fire attacks.
