List of Contents
You can rematch the Elite Four at any time after becoming champion by entering through the door in the Pokemon League. However, you will only battle the same team that they had from the first time you battled them and you will not obtain any rewards.
To unlock the first Elite Four rematch team, you will first need to get the National Dex by seeing all the Pokemon native to the Sinnoh Dex. Once you have obtained the National Dex, you will face off against their new teams once you enter the Pokemon League door.
How to Unlock the National Dex
The second rematch team of the Elite Four is unlocked after capturing or defeating Heatran in Stark Mountain. Once the Stark Mountain event is completed, you can return to the Pokemon League to face off against their final team.

All of Bertha's Pokemon will have the move Earthquake, which is an incredibly powerful Ground type move. To counter her Earthquake, bring a Flying type Pokemon, a Pokemon with the ability Levitate, or a Grass type Pokemon that resists the attack.
If you plan on using stat-boosting moves like Dragon Dance or Swords Dance during the battle, it is best to set up while Whiscash is out on the field. If you are using Gyarados, you can place it at the front of your party and sweep her team after using Dragon Dance.
Bertha's Golem will have the ability Sturdy, so it cannot be taken down in a single hit. After it survives the hit, Bertha will likely replenish its health with a Full Restore. To prevent this, chip at its health with a weaker move before taking it out completely.
Pokemon | Recommended Moves |
---|---|
Gyarados
|
・Ice Fang (Move Reminder) ・Waterfall (Lv. 21) ・Dragon Dance (Lv. 36) ・Great type advantage against most of Bertha's team. ・Intimidate lowers the Attack of Pokemon. ・Sweep Bertha's team by setting up Dragon Dance. |
Palkia
|
・Spacial Rend (Lv. 40) ・Surf (TM95) ・Great type advantage against most of Bertha's team. ・Above average defenses. ・Spacial Rend does decent damage. |
Torterra
|
・Wood Hammer (Move Reminder) ・Earthquake (On Evolution) ・Catch a Turtwig from the Grand Underground after getting the National Dex. ・Great type advantage against most of Bertha's team. ・Earthquake does decent damage. |
During the second rematch, Bertha's team will have their levels increased by 10, and now includes Nidoking and Mamoswine. However, since both of her newly added Pokemon are weak to Water type attacks, you can defeat Bertha similar to how you defeated her during the first rematch.
Mamoswine, one of the newly added Pokemon to Bertha's team, is weak to Water type attacks, so you can take it down easily as long as you bring a Pokemon with Water type moves. It is highly recommended to use Gyarados against Bertha's team as it can also play a major role against the rest of the Elite Four rematches.
