A Deck that is nearly all Trap Cards normally should not work, but Paleozoic Decks are built different. Trap Cards are crucial for this Deck to thrive, as it activates the second effect of the archetype Trap Cards that allows them to be Special Summoned onto the field, now treated as a Normal Monster.
Cards like Card Trooper, Cardcar D, Jar of Greed and Legacy of Yata-Garasu provide card advantage through milling and draw power. Common disruptors for the opponent's monsters include Ring of Destruction, Torrential Tribute and Phantom Knights' Fog Blade.
When Special Summoned as Normal Monsters, the Paleozoics are Level 2 monsters. There are some very effective Rank 2 Xyz monsters to consider, like The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin or Number 45: Crumble Logos the Prophet of Demolition. Link Monsters also have viability here, with effective monsters such as Geonator Transverser, Triple Burst Dragon and Powercode Talker.
