In the demo, if you discard all of the weapons and items in your inventory before entering the village, a well by the barn to the right of the village entrance will open up. Head down into the well and you can pick up the TMP machine pistol at the end of the small tunnel. However, this secret has been removed in the main game's Chapter 1.
This is only possible on New Game Plus as you will need a sniper rifle to shoot the Church Bell at the far side of the Village. It is much easier to take the shot from the roof of the house where you get the W-870 as it offers the best vantage point.
Shooting the bell triggers the cutscene where the villagers are entranced by the bell and leave you alone in the area.
How to Skip the First Village Fight
In the Farm, you can throw a Hand Grenade through the window into the room with the Wooden Cog. This will break open the lock from the inside, which allows you to simply walk in and get the Wooden Cog, without having to go through long way.
After the cutscene where one of Leon's escorts gets burned in a bonfire, a Chainsaw Man enters the area. In order to progress through the following action sequence, you only need to survive for about three minutes.
You can avoid fighting the Chainsaw Man to preserve health and ammo. After the cutscene, run back to where you entered the area from. From there, simply take down any enemy that comes close until the time runs out.
To the right of the village entrance is a barn with a cow inside. You can lure a horde of ganados into the barn, quickly run out the other entrance, then shoot the lantern hanging from the ceiling to set everything inside the barn on fire (even the cow, unfortunately).
Just like in the original, you can find the Shotgun (W-870) in the third house left of the bonfire in the village (north of the village square). While not exactly hidden, this shotgun may be missed by players who might not think to look inside the houses.
On the southwest corner of the Farm, you'll find a windmill with a censer hanging on it. Shoot it to find a Pearl Pendant, which you can sell at the Merchant for a solid number of Pesetas.
Make sure to shoot the censer when it's on the right side of the windmill. If you shoot it when it's on the left side, the pendant lands in the well, and you'll get the Dirty Pearl Pendant instead, which sells significantly less at the Merchant.
You can kill crows to earn items or pesetas (the in-game currency)—if you can even manage to properly shoot them, that is.
Additionally, you can kill chickens to collect the eggs that they may drop. Consuming eggs allow you to recover, so it's a handy way to survive the fight in the village. However, not all chickens drop eggs when killed.
Players can head to the Bell Tower in the village to get a Green Herb from the second floor. Be quick in getting the item as the floor caves in fast.
Should You Climb the Bell Tower?
You may miss it due to all the ganados in the village, but there is a police officer staked to the bonfire in the middle of the village. You can watch him get lit on fire if you inspect the binoculars icon at the entrance of the village.
Like the original, this cop is one of the 2 police officers who escort Leon to the village at the beginning of the game.
If you zoom in on the SG-09 R you get in the game, you'll find it engraved with the word Kendo.
This is a reference to a gun shop and gun shop owner Robert Kendo that appeared in the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3.
If you look at the description of the Combat Knife, it will mention that this is the same knife that Leon received from Marvin in Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Yes, the right side of the windmill is beyond the well it would fall into. So, if you shoot it off on the right side of the windmill it will fall to the ground and break and you get a Pearl Pendant. Just like in the original there's a way to get a "clean" version if you are clever.

Indeed, huge fail on the part of Game8 for telling the player how to do this "secret" incorrectly. Also crows can drop gemstones sometimes, rarely but I've gotten rubies from them.
