The biggest secret of the Chainsaw Demo is undoubtedly that you can guarantee Mad Chainsaw Mode triggering by pressing a secret button code. The Mad Chainsaw Mode is an extreme difficulty mode, where enemies are tougher and you only have 1 life.

There's a secret button code on console that guarantees Mad Chainsaw Mode triggers everytime. Perform the following code when on the screen before selecting Main Story.

In order for the below code to work, you need to unbind the Space key from the Confirm (Menu) command in Key Bindings and to press Caps Lock before starting Step 1, because the letters need to be capitalized for the code to work.

You Can Get a Level 3 TMP Special Weapon

If you discard all of the weapons and items in your inventory before entering the village, a well by the barn to the right of the village entrance will open up. Head down into the well and you can pick up the TMP machine pistol at the end of the small tunnel.

2 Chainsaw Men Can Spawn

You can spawn 2 Chainsaw Men in the village segment. To do this, you have to run towards the northeast corner of the map (through the path by the tower) and get close to the gate to spawn the first Chainsaw Man. Afterward, enter the house across the tower (where the W-870 Shotgun is) to spawn the second Chainsaw Man.

Killing them both and collecting the pesetas they drop will give you a "Great!" demo score.

Crude Charm Contains Code for ARG Puzzle

The Crude Charm object that you pick up inside the Hunter's Lodge is more than just a collectible File. It has inscribed on it the words "Se acerca el jucio," which the game translates to "Judgement is Nigh."

The inscription actually contains the secret password needed to complete the Day 6 Puzzle of the Baby Eagle is Missing ARG, which serves as a prequel to the Chainsaw Demo/first chapter of the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

You Can Light the Barn on Fire

To the right of the village entrance is a barn with a cow inside. You can lure a horde of ganados into the barn, quickly run out the other entrance, then shoot the lantern hanging from the ceiling to set everything inside the barn on fire (even the cow, unfortunately).

You Can Equip the Shotgun Already

Just like in the original, you can find the Shotgun (W-870) in the third house left of the bonfire in the village (north of the village square). While not exactly hidden, this shotgun may be missed by players who might not think to look inside the houses during the demo.

Crows Drop Money When Killed

Although you don't need money during the demo, you can kill crows to earn pesetas (the in-game currency)—if you can even manage to properly shoot them, that is.

Additionally, you can kill chickens to collect the eggs that they may drop. Consuming eggs allow you to recover, so it's a handy way to survive the fight in the village. However, not all chickens drop eggs when killed.

Drawer That Can't be Unlocked Yet

Inside the second house left of the bonfire in the village, there's a locked drawer that cannot be opened during the demo. This could hint that the player will be able to find the key in a later location, then return to the village and be able to open the drawer.

This drawer was not in the original game, so the contents within are unknown.

Ledge That Can't be Climbed Yet

To the left of the village entrance is a wall that displays a climb icon when you pass by it. The icon depicts a person boosting another person to climb the wall, so this could mean that you return to the village location later in the game with Ashley or Luis, and they'll be able to help you scale walls.

Bell Tower that Players Can Climb

Players can head to the Bell Tower in the village to get 500 Pesetas from the second floor. Be quick in getting the money as the floor caves in fast.

Police Officer Burning in the Bonfire

You may miss it due to the all the ganados in the village, but there is a police officer staked to the bonfire in the middle of the village. You can watch him get lit on fire if you inspect the binoculars icon at the entrance of the village.

Like the original, this cop is one of the 2 police officers who escort Leon to the village at the beginning of the game.

Chainsaw Demo Secret Difficulty

Mad Chainsaw Mode

The Chainsaw Demo's secret difficulty is the Mad Chainsaw Mode, which unlocks randomly upon starting a new game during the demo. Set at extreme difficulty, the enemies are tougher and there are no checkpoints during this secret mode.

If you die, you will be sent back to the main menu and you'll have to wait until the secret mode triggers again.
