How to Get S++ Rank |

Getting 1,000,000 points in Mercenaries is required to get S++ Rank. This is possible by keeping your kill combo going, and killing all 150 enemies in each stage before running out of time.
Once you've killed 100 enemies, the enemy spawns will start to ramp up. Stay at the bottom of the zone, where the stairs lead down to a muddy trench. Stay here till the endgame. The two turrets at either end will be within reach to dispatch mobs and elite enemies.
Do not bother with Hunk's neck-breaker melee, as it only takes up too much time. Although it can be used to instantly kill Brutes, if you're low on ammo.
Hunk's time is best used drilling bullets into enemies, and picking up more TMP ammo from the carnage. Your goal here is to kill enemies as fast as possible so that more spawn in to chase you down.
Hunk's most worthwhile melee move is the kick he does after shooting an enemy in the legs. Use this when you see a bunch of enemies grouped together. This kick will knock them all down and is good at crowd control.
There are two turrets available to use: one at both ends of the trench area at the bottom of the zone. They only have 100 ammo each but can be useful if you are running low on ammo or if you are having trouble dealing with the Brute elite enemies. Make sure not to camp here, since enemies may come from behind you.
How to Beat Brute (Minotaur)
Explosive barrels are positioned at various choke points throughout the stage. Use these barrels to clear out mobs quickly.
Don't use these barrels on elite enemies; it would be better to use your Mayhem Mode on them instead, to rack up bonus points.
If you are being swarmed by multiple Plagas, you can use a Flash Grenade to instantly kill them. This helps, especially when dealing with the enemy Soldiers that have Plagas attached to them.
Note: Hunk does not start the game with flash grenades but these items drop fairly often in the stage.
Weapon | Mayhem | Bonus Points | Bonus Time |
---|---|---|---|
LE 5 |
2 Bars | 400 per shot | 3 Seconds per kill |
1 Bar | 200 per shot | 2 Seconds per kill |
Using Mayhem Mode when it's full up on 2 Bars is more efficient, as you receive a higher score bonus per shot landed, and more seconds of bonus time per enemy killed.
How to Use Mayhem Mode
Island Elite Enemies | |
---|---|
20 Enemies Killed | Brute (Crossbow) |
70 Enemies Killed | Brute (No Hammer) (x2) |
100 Enemies Killed | Brute (Hammer) |
It's always worth activating your Mayhem Mode when elite enemies like the Brutes appear. Fire at them nonstop to rack up those bonus points.
