The Chainsaw Demo covers the start of the first chapter, so the very beginning of the game. After the opening cutscenes, it begins with Leon in the forest heading to the house of his police officer informant. The demo ends in the village, after the Chainsaw Villager appears and the bells start ringing.

Resident Evil 4 Mad Chainsaw Mode

Demo Play Length 25-40 minutes

The Chainsaw Demo has an extreme difficulty mode called Mad Chainsaw Mode that unlocks randomly upon starting a new game. Should you accept the challenge, you'll be thrust into a playthrough of the demo where you only have 1 life and the enemies are harder. Because of this, players would want to play more cautiously.

Will Demo Progress Carry Over?

Progress May Not Carry Over

It's likely that demo progress won't carry over, since previous installments, such as Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 3 Remake, did not have demo progress carry over.

This means that players will likely have to play from the beginning once the full game is out! The Chainsaw Demo only covers around the first 20 minutes of the game anyway, so it shouldn't be hard to start over.
