This is a walkthrough for Chapter 6 of Resident Evil 4 Remake (RE4). Read on for a detailed walkthrough, route maps for each objective, a list of important items obtainable, and tips on how to complete this chapter!

Chapter 6 Basic Information

Chapter Summary

After Hunnigan informs Leon that the chopper cannot land due to the bad weather, Leon and Ashley try to find another way off the island.

Route Map

Follow the Path

After receiving the harrowing news from Hunnigan that the chopper cannot land anytime soon, Leon presses onward to try and find a different way off the Island. Follow the path until you come across the torch with the Purple Flame. There is a merchant inside, and now is a good time to stock up on gear and ammo.

Enter the Wooden Gate

Once you're done with all your preparations, open the wooden gate and head inside. You can get past the Ganados by sneaking your way through and hiding behind the wooden walls. If you attack one of them, the Ganados will be alerted by your presence, and try to attack you as you move along.

Head Deeper Into the Checkpoint

After making it past the first gate, open the second wooden gate to head deeper into the Checkpoint. Shortly beyond the second gate, you can find a small shed to your left. Head inside and defeat the lone Ganados lying in ambush, then retrieve the Chalice of Atonement from the chest inside.

Go to the House to the Left of the Locked Gate

Towards the end of the path, you will come across a large locked gate. Follow the path left of the gate, where you will be met with two Ganados. Defeat them and enter the shelter by making your way up the elevated wooden platform.

Retrieve the Elegant Headdress

Inside the shelter, you can find a bridge extending to a nearby elevated platform. Use the Old Wayshrine Key on the wooden mechanism to obtain the Elegant Headdress.

Head to the Lower Floor of the Shelter

Beside the locker inside the house, you can find a broken staircase leading to the lower floor. Head down and make all the necessary preparations since you will be fighting the Chainsaw Sisters shortly. Once ready, interact with the Checkpoint Crank by the wall to trigger the cutscene.

Defeat the Chainsaw Sisters

Aside from the Chainsaw Sisters, other Ganados will also arrive to attack you. Focus on defeating the Chainsaw Sisters first to stop the arrival of new enemies. Retrieve the Checkpoint Crank from the corpse of the Chainsaw Sisters afterwards. Head outside and defeat the remaining Ganados, then circle back to the large locked wooden gate. Use the Checkpoint Crank on the gate to unlock it.

Exit the Checkpoint

After unlocking the gate with the Checkpoint Crank, head outside where you will find an abandoned house. Enter from the broken roof, and make your way to the front door to proceeed. Follow the path towards the wooden gate, and interact with it to trigger the cutscene with Mendez.

Escape Mendez and the Villagers

After Mendez mangles the wooden gate you entered from, he will begin to slowly chase after you, while the other Ganados attack you from the houses uphill. Prioritize incapacitating the Ganados while quickly making your way through. Keep in mind that Mendez will also be slowly coming after you from behind, so don't waste too much time fighting the Ganados. Once you reach the cliff's edge, head to the catwalk on the left, to trigger the next cutscene.

Enter the Slaughterhouse

Once the bridge collapses and you successfuly elude Mendez, follow the path to find the sign with Matadero written on it. No Pasar is painted above the original sign, and translates to Do not Enter in English.

After restocking on items and ammo from the nearby merchant, head up the stairs to the left to enter the Slaughterhouse. As you make your way through the Slaughterhouse, Leon will be attacked by Mendez, which will trigger the next cutscene.

Defeat Mendez

Defeat Mendez in His First Form

After Leon shoots an Explosive Barrel near Mendez, he loses his trench coat and reveals his horrifying form underneath. Head up the raised platform to be able to shoot Mendez from above. Once Mendez receives enough damage, he will enter a paralyzed state, where you can drop down and stab the large eye on Mendez' back. Repeat this several times to defeat Mendez, and once he receives enough damage, a cutscene will be triggered where his torso gets separated from his legs.

Defeat Mendez in His Second Form

After discarding his legs, Mendez will use the tendrils on his back to latch on to the wooden beams on the ceiling. To defeat Mendez in this form, you must shoot at him while also dodging the burning objects he throws at you. Mendez will also occasionally move closer to try and hit you with his melee attack. Similar to his first form, once Mendez receives enough damage, he will enter a paralyzed state where you can drop down and stab the large eye on his back.

Escape the Slaughterhouse

After defeating Mendez, grab Mendez's False Eye from his corpse before finding your way out of the burning Slaughterhouse. Exit through the window that Ashley broke in the cutscene, which should be just to the left of Mendez.

Head Towards the Castle

After leaving the burning Slaughterhouse, follow the path leading up. Continue forward and, past the drawbridge. A cutscene should be triggered where the drawbridge gets raised, which signals the end of the Chapter.

Command Ashley to Hide Before the Chainsaw Sisters Fight

Before fighting the Chainsaw Sisters on the lower floor of the house in the Checkpoint, you can command Ashley to wait in the nearby locker before the battle starts. This allows you to fight against the Chainsaw Sisters and the horde of Ganados with more freedom, since you don't have to worry much for Ashley's safety.

Make Use of the Explosive Barrels

During the part where you must flee from Mendez and the Villagers, there are multiple explosive barrels that you can find along the path. The barrels are placed where several Ganados will pass through at a time, so shoot the barrels at the right time to make quick work of the Ganados.

Shoot Explosive Barrels before Mendez Throws it

During the second phase of the Mendez boss fight, he will occasionally throw Explosive Barrels at you. When Mendez picks up the barrels, you can shoot it while he holds them, causing it to explode early, and deal lots of damage against Mendez.

Clockwork Castellan

You can find this Clockwork Castellan beside a bonfire past the abandoned building before the Checkpoint. It will be sitting on the ledge on the righthand side of the bonfire.

Yellow Herb

A Yellow Herb can be found in Chapter 6 at the top of the stairs, in the corner area of Checkpoint.

Yellow Diamond

A Yellow Diamond can be obtained from the treasure chest on the west side of the Merchant's shop.

Chalice of Atonement

The Chalice of Atonement can be obtained from a treasure chest in the cabin you'll pass before entering the Checkpoint area.

Elegant Headdress

The Elegant Headdress can be obtained by opening the Wayshrine southwest of the area.

Mendez's False Eye

Emerald

An Emerald can be obtained by dropping the censer hanging from a tree on the way to the castle.

Red Beryl

A Red Beryl hidden treasure can be obtained by shooting the censer above the Merchant's shop at the start of Chapter 6.

Spinel

A Spinel hidden treasure can be obtained by shooting the censer hanging by a window as you approach Checkpoint.

Accessory Red Hair

After your fight with Mendez, as you head further up the path, the Accessory Red Hair will be inside a chest at the back of an old abandoned truck.

Gold Token

Chapter 6 Bosses

Brute (Minotaur)

First Chapter Appearance	Chapter 1

Minotaur is an elite enemy villager with a bull for a head and a giant sledge hammer. Although it may take more shots than normal villagers, knowing where to hit it greatly helps in bringing it down efficiently.

How to Beat Minotaur

• Shoot its head and knees until its open for a melee prompt
• Take advantage of melee prompts to deal high damage
• Utilize environmental hazards like explosives and ladders.

Chainsaw Sisters

First Chapter Appearance	Chapter 6

Chainsaw Sisters are villagers that uses red chainsaws in the village. They will appear at the same time, so use items and weapons that can hit them both during the first seconds of the battle to quickly kill them.

How to Beat Chainsaw Sisters

• Command Ashley to hide
• Throw Grenades as soon as the battle starts
• Use a Shotgun or TMP
