For speedrunning the game it's better in two ways to let him die. It doesn't take the time to run and save him, but also when he comes to help you out, El Gigante's health gets restored to a certain point. So it actually makes it take longer. That said, it's not much time loss, so don't be heartless, Leon :(

one thing some people dont know though, regardless of if you save the dog...you WILL have to fight him for a request from the merchant. and on hardcore that thing has more health than gigant himself. xD
