Chapter 12 Basic Information

Chapter Summary

Leon gets a tip from Ada that Ashley was being taken to the clock tower where she would finally become one of the Los Illuminados. Now, he needs to reach the tower and climb to the top before it's too late.

Chapter Objectives

Make Your Way to the Surface

Get Back to the Castle

Map Location	In-Game Location

Follow the path ahead and ride the elevator at the end to get back to the castle interior. Immediately to your left are two Requests: Jewel Thief and The Disgrace of the Salazar Family, as well as a room where you can find the merchant.

Reach the Clock Tower

Map Location	In-Game Location

Ride the cart in front of the merchant room to reach the clock tower.

Get to Top of the Clock Tower

Climb the Tower

Climb the stairs to reach the scaffolding that holds the automated Salazar statue in the middle. The statue will move and breathe fire so you have to be careful in proceeding. Alternatively, you can disable the statue by shooting the red explosive barrel on the back of its head.

Continue climbing the tower until you reach a dead end. Turn left from here and cross the wooden platforms for a chest containing a Mirror with Pearls and Rubies. Vault down to your left to reach the elevator.

All Skips and Shortcuts

Take the Elevator Up

Pull the lever to activate the elevator that will slowly ascend to the top. Take out the crossbow Cultists posted on the upper floors as they can be a huge distraction while dealing with those that will try to hop on the elevator.

Go After Ashley

Follow Salazar

Hop off the elevator and go up the stairs that will lead you outside. Keep following this path until you reach the building where they took Ashley. Enter through the door for a cutscene and then a boss fight.

Defeat Ramon

Ramon Salazar can now move freely around the room in the remake, in expense of his body being exposed throughout the battle. Use weapons with fast fire rate like the TMP to keep up with his speed.

Ramon will also occasionally hurl corrosives at you from afar or drop acid pods on the ground to limit your movement. Be sure to run towards him and knife his eye whenever he gets staggered for heavy damage.

How to Beat Salazar

Go After Ashley

Escape the Castle

With Ramon down, you can finally escape the castle and move to the last major area. Go through the doorway where Krauser went and follow the stairs down to an elevator. At the base of this building is a dock with a boat that will take you out the castle and to the next chapter.

Disable the Salazar Statue Take out the Cultists hopping on the elevator Purchase a Rocket Launcher before the Salazar fight

Disable the Salazar Statue

As you climb the clocktower, you will encounter the Salazar Statue on the second floor. The best way to deal with this is to disable it by shooting the red explosive barrel on the back of its head. This will make your climb of the tower easier.

Take Out the Cultists Hopping on the Elevator

The elevator that will take you to the top of the clock tower will stop whenever an enemy steps foot on it. Take them out to keep the elevator running, ideally before they jump in.

Purchase a Rocket Launcher Before the Salazar Fight

Like in the original, Ramon can be instantly defeated by blasting his exposed body with a Rocket Launcher. Purchase one from the merchant right before the boss fight and use it as soon as the fight starts to skip to the death cutscene.

The Jewel Thief request is located near the Ballroom by the entrance of the Merchant's shop in Chapter 12.

Clockwork Castellan

You can find this Clockwork Castellan right after taking the gondola leading to the Clock Tower. After opening the double doors, head straight forward while hugging the left wall to find the Castellan on top of a box.

Treasures

Gold Chicken Egg

Map Location	In-Game Location

The Gold Chicken Egg in the Castle can be obtained by going back to the Throne Room to the east and unlock the Square Lock Box using the Cubic Device.

Scratched Emerald

Map Location	In-Game Location

The Scratched Emerald in the castle can be obtained by destroying the crow's nest in the Courtyard. This is a for the Jewel Thief request.

Jewel Thief Location and How to Complete

Ornate Beetle

Another Ornate Beetle can be obtained in the Castle from a Locked Drawer in the Castle Battlements. Look out for the Locked Drawer as you go through the Courtyard and to the Castle Battlements before boarding the gondola.

All Small Key and Lock Locations

Gold Bar

Map Location	In-Game Location

Another Gold Bar can be obtained in the Castle. It is inside a treasure chest southwest of the first floor of the Clock Tower.

Alexandrite

Map Location	In-Game Location

Another Alexandrite can be obtained in the Castle by shooting the container suspended from the ceiling in the southwest staircase of the second floor of the Clock Tower.

Mirror with Pearls and Rubies

Map Location	In-Game Location

The Mirror with Pearls and Rubies can be obtained in the Castle at the third floor of the Clock Tower. When the spiked ball rolls down the stairs, do not go down the ladder but instead go behind the lever to find the treasure chest.

Extravagant Clock

Another Extravagant Clock can be obtained from a treasure chest in the Castle after dropping down the ladder.

Yellow Diamond

Map Location	In-Game Location

Another Yellow Diamond can be obtained in the Castle after shooting down the container hanging from a wooden platform on the walls of the Clock Tower.

Lip Rouge

Map Location	In-Game Location

The Lip Rouge can be obtained after defeating Salazar.

Hidden Treasures

Note: Hidden Treasures only appear with the Expanded Treasure Map from the Deluxe Edition.

Ornate Necklace

Map Location	In-Game Location

An Ornate Necklace can be obtained from a treasure chest by riding the elevator from the Hive and going to the Throne Room before the gondola. The treasure chest is at the rear side of the Throne Room.

Silver Token

Map Location	In-Game Location

Another Silver Token can be obtained in the Castle by shooting down a container hanging from the iron beams at the ceiling on the top floor of the Clock Tower after riding the elevator.

Yellow Diamond

Map Location	In-Game Location

Another Yellow Diamond can be obtained after battling Salazar. Shoot down the container hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the path leading to the docks.
