You can find the W-870 inside the house on the second floor near the stairs. It's located north of the Village Square from the map, near the tower and church.
Entering the house from the location will trigger a cutscene. You can go up the stairs once done, or you can just skip it!

Is the W-870 Worth It?
Can be Quickly Replaced by the Riot Gun
Although the W-870 is a good early game shotgun, we do not recommend players to upgrade this weapon as the Riot Gun is available just a few chapters ahead.
The Riot Gun is an overall better weapon compared to the W-870, although its damage is short by 1, its compact pellet spread, range, reload speed, and rate of fire make it a better option specially for bosses and elite enemies.
How to Use W-870
Good to Use Against Large and Elite Enemies
Due to W-870's firepower, it is best to use against an elite and even boss enemies. It can deal a lot of damage using only one bullet and stagger those enemies once they've taken enough damage.
Try not to use it against weaker mobs, especially if you're low on resources, and save it against stronger enemies.

You say "The Riot Gun is an overall better weapon compared to the W-870 because of it's damage, range, and compact spread." But this gun does more damage fully upgraded it does 20.2 & the Riot Gun does 19.2. Maybe it should read: "The Riot Gun is an overall better weapon compared to the W-870, even though it does less damage fully upgraded, it has better range and a more compact pellet spread."

In the old game the 870 had a buff when maxed where-in each pellet did the full damage of the spread. Does the same occur in this iteration?
