The chief of the village into which Leon ventures. Like the other locals, he worships the leader of a religous cult.
The voice actor of Mendez in this remake is Jon Bryant. Jessi Corti was his former voice actor in the original RE4. The current voice actor has a deeper, fiercer voice than the original, better matching Bitores' new appearance in this remake.

Bitores is the Chief of the village where Ashley was brought after being kidnapped. Just like the villagers, he worships the religious cult leader, Osmund Saddler.
He will become an obstacle for Leon as he explores the village and tries to escape the region with Ashley.
Bitores is now wearing a Traveler's Hat in the remake. He is not wearing that in the original, and his bald head is showing up. Aside from that, his overall outfit is still the same but looks much cleaner than in the original.
Bitores is a bit skinny in the original game, but his body build is now larger in the remake. This new look makes him more intimidating and distinct than the other villagers.
