A Rhinoceros Beetle can be found on a tree on the west side of Lakeside Settlement which can be accessed by boat. It is a Recovery Item that can be consumed to increase your maximum health.
After interacting with the Merchant in the Quarry, he utters a line that tells you to take care of any leftover errands before continuing. This acts as a warning that the lake area will become inaccessible for the rest of the game if you continue forward. This happens in every merchant location that precedes a point of no return.
