Purchase Special Items From the Extra Content Shop

The easiest way to get an S+ Rank is to do a fresh playthrough with Special Items unlocked. This means that you'll need to finish the main story in different difficulties first (with any rank) to have them available for purchase.

Special items like Ashley's Armor and Chicago Sweeper can be used in a fresh save after they're obtained, and will not lock you out of an S+ Rank.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Requests

The only condition for getting S+ rank is the amount of time you pour into your playthrough. As such, it is highly advisable that you do not waste time going around the Village, Castle, and Island to look for treasure and requests to fulfill.

Have Fully Upgraded Weapons

This is self-explanatory since boss fights tend to be lengthy especially when your weapons are merely peppering your enemy instead of blasting holes through them.

Focus on Stealth as Much as Possible

Sometimes the best way to win the fight is to win it from the shadows. This will allow you to sneak past enemies and reach checkpoints earlier since you won't have to deal with every enemy head-on.

How to Stealth Kill

Run Away When You Can

When stealth is not an option, you have a higher chance of getting S+ rank when you run away from your enemies instead of standing your ground to fight them all. Of course this will not always be the case as some stages will require you to stand your ground.

How to Save Ammo

Remember There are No Autosaves

In higher difficulties such as Professional, autosaves are disabled. If you die, you would have to begin again from your last save. This would waste precious seconds as you will have to run past everything again.

All Rank Requirements

Ranks by Playtime

Rank Assisted Standard Hardcore Professional
S+ 04:00:00 05:00:00 05:30:00 05:30:00
15 Saves Only
S 04:00:00 05:00:00 05:30:00 05:30:00
A 15:00:00 12:00:00 10:00:00 07:00:00

Each difficulty will have a different cutoff time for each playthrough length. It can be assumed that anything more than the playtimes exceeding those along the A row would then be classified as B.
