Strength: Can Handle Any Stage Without Difficulty

Equipped with an SG-09R, a Riot Gun, and a Stingray, which are all easy to use weapons, Leon is indeed an all-rounder character and a beginner friendly option to tackle all three stages without running into too much difficulty.

Players may find the SG-09R's fire rate a bit slow though, compared to the Blacktail from the main story.

Strength: Can Push Back Mobs with the Shotgun

Leon is the only Mercenaries character who has a shotgun, which is an invaluable weapon in close quarters combat, fending off mobs of enemies, and taking down tough enemies including elites such as Chainsaw Man and Brute (Minotaur).

Weakness: Mayhem Mode is Difficult to Use

Leon's Mayhem mode allows him to fire with greater attack strength and speed, but the effectiveness of this ability is entirely dependent on the player's accuracy. Not all players may benefit equally from this ability.

Good in Any Stage

Although Leon doesn't excel in any particular stage, he doesn't perform poorly in them either. Elites such as the Chainsaw Man can be dealt with using the shotgun or rifle, and shield-wielding enemies and even enemies with exposed Plaga can be disarmed and defeated using the shotgun.

Leon Abilities

Mayhem Mode: Increased Attack Power and Speed

Leon's Mayhem Mode is unleashed by pressing L3 + R3 / LS + RS at the same time. During Mayhem Mode, Leon's weapon attack power and firing speed are greatly increased, allowing your shots to deal greater damage to enemies.

When to Use Leon's Mayhem Mode

Leon's Mayhem Mode is best used when in a pinch or when you've lined up a good amount of enemies in front of you that you can pick off one by one to keep your combo going.

How to Use Mayhem Mode

Melee: Roundhouse Kick

This is performed after shooting an enemy in the head and pressing the Interact button while they are stunned. Leon does a wide-arcing kick that knocks down all enemies in a small radius around him.

Melee: Front Kick

This move is performed after shooting an enemy's legs, causing them to stumble. Press the Interact button while they are on their knees to perform a front kick, which has less coverage than the roundhouse kick. We advise going for the roundhouse kick instead.

Melee: Suplex

This move can be initiated by shooting an enemy's legs, letting them stumble, then going behind them and pressing the Interact button while they are still on their knees. Leon will perform a suplex on the enemy.

This move inflicts high damage but takes a while to execute, so make sure you don't lose your combo streak.
