The Chainsaw Demo of the Resident Evil 4 Remake confirms a few story and gameplay changes will be made. Read on to learn what are the demo's differences from the original, all changes made, and features from the original that were changed.

Hunter's Lodge Locked Door

Hunter
Upon entering the first house in the game, there is a locked door that requires a key which is dropped by the villager that you kill during the cut scene . This was not present in the original Resident Evil 4 (2005).

Saving The Dog

The dog that you have to save from the bear trap is already dead. Unlike in Resident Evil 4 (2005), you can save this dog from the bear trap. Later on, this dog will help you during the El Gigante boss fight by drawing its attention.

What Happened to the Dog?

Dead Police Escorts

Police Escorts Location
First House - Basement Village

One of the local police escorts can be found dead inside the first house. In Resident Evil 4 (2005), you can see him being fed to Del Lago (Lake Salamander Boss) during a cutscene. The second police escort can still be found being burned alive in the village.

Quick Time Events (QTE)

Quick Time Events (QTE) from the first cutscene when you encounter the villager is now removed from the game. Now you can relax while watching this cutscene since you do not have to press any buttons.

Item Locations

Item locations in Resident Evil 4 Remake are not the same as in the original game. However, the locations of the Shotgun (W-870) and the Hand Grenade are still the same.

Locked Drawer

You can find a Locked Drawer inside the house where you can get the Shotgun (W-870). This drawer was not present in the original Resident Evil 4 (2005) game.

Note: You cannot open this drawer in the demo. You may only be able to open this once the game is fully released.

Knife Parry and Breaking Free

Newly Added Parry Resident Evil 4 Remake
You can use your knife to parry incoming projectiles thrown by the enemy. Also, you can use your knife to immediately break free when grabbed by the enemy.

Knife Durability

In Resident Evil 4 Remake, your knife has a durability bar. Once broken, you will not be able to use it unless you repair it from the Merchant.

Crafting

Crafting Resident Evil 4 Remake
Instead of relying on the Merchant, players can now gather and craft their supplies to progress the game!
