The Mercenaries DLC is available in all regions on consoles with the 1.004 update! Although there was no official announcement for the release time, it was released worldwide at midnight in each time zone and is now available everywhere as of midnight EST on April 7.

Players with accounts from regions near the top of this list were able to play the game earlier than those near the bottom. Note that all United States players were able to start at midnight Eastern Time, so players in western time zones in the US were able to start earlier than midnight.

As of midnight EST on April 7, Mercenaries is now available on all regions on Steam!

It was believed that the Mercenaries Mode DLC would drop at midnight (12am) of April 7th (UTC), given that the base game of Resident Evil 4 Remake launched at midnight (12am) of March 24th (UTC). However, it did not drop until 4 hours later, at midnight EST.

The Mercenaries Mode launched as a free post-launch DLC on April 7 with Ver. 1.004 of the game! Players have to download the DLC separately from their respective storefronts before they can play The Mercenaries mode.

Mercenaries Mode is a score-attack mode where players have to kill as many enemies as possible before the timer runs out. To get the highest score possible, players would have to take down multiple foes in succession and pick up time orbs to extend the stage's timer.

Multiple Stages with Elite Enemies

The Mercenaries has 3 stages (Village, Castle, and Island) with varying layouts and enemy types, including elite enemies that are tougher to take down but provided higher scores on kill. These features offer plenty of replayability and ways for players to continue enjoying Resident Evil 4 after beating the main story.

You can play as Leon, Luis, Krauser, and Hunk in the Remake's Mercenaries mode. Each character has different Mayhem Mode abilities and set weapon loadouts, which means you'll have to shift playstyles with each of them.

In the original, Luis was not a playable character, while Ada Wong and Albert Wesker were. It's possible Ada and Wesker will be added as playable characters in the Remake at a future date.

Unlocks the Handcannon

Handcannon

As in the original, you can get the Handcannon by beating Mercenaries Mode. To unlock the Handcannon in the Remake, you have to beat all 3 stages with an S ranking or higher.

This is the second way of unlocking the Handcannon in the Remake, as you can also unlock it by completing Professional Mode of the Main Story without using Special or Bonus Weapons.
